It certainly does, but with our quick run scoring it also doesn’t give our bowlers long to recover. An interesting stat was we’ve bowled 1400 more deliveries than the Aussies during this series. A slight exaggeration, we were scoring at high 4 and 5 an over. In fact at lunch it was 5.20 an over if you want to be that precise. The difference between the way they played this morning and at other times during the series was they were more selective with their strokes. They weren’t just throwing their bat at most things. I’m more than happy with that approach, they were more in control.

Grind the Aussies into the dust, physically and mentally destroy them. They’d do the same against us. Really hope Stokes doesn’t make an early declaration to give them a sniff. Personally, I’d bat the rest of the day and an hour or so in the morning, give our bowlers a bit more of a rest and then put them in. | |

Which bit of 5-6 are you struggling with, ffs? Nowhere did I say over 6, 5-6 means between 5 and 6 which is what we were scoring at in the first session today. We've piled on 365 runs today, you don't do that playing circumspectly, and we haven't played circumspectly, we've continued with the approach that's served us well over the last 18 months. | |

It needs looking at. In recent years we've had DRS and concussion checks introduced to the game but no allowance made for that. Of course, teams also slow the over rate with a lot of dicking around as well but there are also things which naturally hold the game up that haven't really been responded to in terms of adding time at the start or end of the day to ensure the overs are completed. | |
