Yeah, absolutely class cricketer. He'll be missed. I kind of hope Anderson follows suit.

I had this romantic vision of them both taking 5 apiece tomorrow to win us back the Ashes. I suppose to do it to draw would be special. I remember being at SCG for Warne, McGrath and Langer's send off. That was a real changing of the guard moment.

Cricket Day 3 on 18:04 - Jul 29 by Herbivore | Which bit of 5-6 are you struggling with, ffs? Nowhere did I say over 6, 5-6 means between 5 and 6 which is what we were scoring at in the first session today. We've piled on 365 runs today, you don't do that playing circumspectly, and we haven't played circumspectly, we've continued with the approach that's served us well over the last 18 months. |
You really are bit of prat. When you said we were scoring 5-6 an over, suggests we were scoring over 5 and 6. At what point have I said circumspect today?l I said more measured with shot selection which they were this morning, but as usual you like to add things to suit your own agenda. I know you like to believe you are the font of all knowledge, but like I said earlier I prefer listening to the experts that have actually played the game. On a positive, good England are in a strong position heading into the final two days. Think we can both agree on that. [Post edited 29 Jul 2023 19:58]

Absolutely brilliant cricketer, and a top man as well. TMS read out a text from one listener saying how he noticed the listener's two young sons hanging around on the boundary after one Test match. Broad went across, asked them if they'd enjoyed the day, then if they'd like his autograph. When theys said 'yes', he went into the dressing room & brought back for them the autograph of every England player in the 11. We're really, really going to miss him. Glad he's been able to choose the time & place to make his retirement though, I think & hope there'll be a standing ovation.

Those long spells from one end where he nips out 5 or 6 wickets will really be missed. No bowler we've ever had thrives on theatre and gets a crowd going like Broad and tomorrow is going to be set up perfectly for him. Once he smashes 50 odd with the bat of course! Thanks for the memories Stuart.

Cricket Day 3 on 08:35 - Jul 30 with 513 views | rodney76 | Perhaps Jimmy should have done the same a year ago if his contribution to the series is anything to go by. He seems to have lost that little something that is difficult to define. Perhaps it's lust luck, as he seems to have bowled well enough or perhaps it's just age catching up with some aspects of his bowling skills. Anyhow, he has one last chance to go out with a bang. Come on Jimmy Anderson one last throw of the dice. Get a sixer. [Post edited 30 Jul 2023 8:37]

I knew he was getting on in age for a pro sportsman at elite level, but could hardly believe it when TMS said in close of play discussion yesterday that he's 41!

41 today I believe. I've been there for the last two days and while I might have enjoyed a few less wickets yesterday, it did mean I got to see my last view of Broad and Jimmy live last night. The huge roar when Jimmy succesfully reviewed was even larger than when Steve Smith was rearranging the advertising hoardings. Mention for Mitch Marsh too who was a good sport and good fun on the boundary.
