Yes. I know I over think things.
But. Thinking of KM popping Harness in a more central role in a couple of these recent games.. do you think its a development attempt to try and improve his control of the ball and quick thinking when being pressed.
With the vast numbers of midfielders we have it seemed a tad strange to see him being played there. But thinking more about it.. I did wonder if it was indeed a planned exercise and one which if the case could be a masterclass.

No I think they were pre season friendlies where the squad was being stretched into 2 teams

I think it's more that we were playing two games so needed 4 CMs and Luongo was injured, Ball was at right back, Humphreys was at home with concussion and Johnathan Douglas has retired (or at least he will have done by the time he gets back to the dressing room). |  |

Forgot about humphreys concussion. I had just thought he wasn't picked. Hence the over thinking of the Harness thing.

We've used him there once in a league match (2nd half at Cambridge last season). Think his off the ball work has him as the most able to be a make shift centre midfielder out of the forwards. |  |

Can't actually see that myself. If Broadhead and Chaplin sustained injuries, apart from Aluko and a relatively untested Humhries in that position, who, other than Harness would you have in mind as an obvious natural fit? [Post edited 1 Aug 2023 17:04]

I think we’ll need players like Harness more than we did last season. In tougher more competitive games where it won’t just be about what we do, he’s more likely to give us the battling qualities we need to get higher up the pitch and also press without the ball.
Broadhead and Chaplin should be the front runners for those attacking midfield/No 10 positions with Hutchinson and Aluko covering/challenging. But I’d still always like to see Harness in the match squad as he’s a great player to have on the bench if we need to change things around.
Along with Humphries, we’ll want options to change the midfield/attacking midfield and the balance of the team. |  |
