Ipswich and Norwich in the Premier League 16:42 - Aug 20 with 5854 views | ChampionsofInnsbruck | I am probably in a minority but I’d love to see it. We’ve not had a top flight derby since 1995. It would be a good thing if we both went up this season and stayed up. Ipswich- Norwich encounters should be a top flight derby again in my view.
Ipswich and Norwich in the Premier League on 07:42 - Aug 21 with 1749 views | ElephantintheRoom | I’m sure anyone resident in the real world thinks the same way. I’m not sure where this notion of ‘hating Norwich’ and ‘scum’ came from… bigoted jealousy presumably as they have been so much more successful this century and not destroyed themselves either…. Not many town fans and no franchise followers under the age of 30 can remember Town being competitive with Norwich…so it’s quite novel to be in the same division as them and possibly on a par…time will tell.

….the US investment in Norwich City that’s come from the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team, that’s given their owner a seat on the board? Franchise FC indeed. You daft old troll.

You dont recall Town going belly up twice under Sheepshanks? Nor becoming an offshore investment under Evans - at a time when Town were one of only two teams in the football league with no know ownership? Perhaps you recall Town becoming Bristol City 2 the sequel? You can put your head in the sand all you like but Town are the only club in East Anglia that sold out after destroying themselves. Like it or not Town are just a poor man’s Chelsea nowadays.

Eh? on 09:09 - Aug 21 with 1662 views | Dyland | No no no, it would be a good thing if we both went up and Town stayed up whilst Nodge crashed limply to a bottom place finish with the worst points tally and goal difference of all time, plus being beaten ten nil at Portman Rd. Some more records for them to put on their bizarre "honours board".

Ipswich and Norwich in the Premier League on 09:14 - Aug 21 with 1658 views | GavTWTD | I'd not enjoy us going toe to toe all season but if they want to join us after we've been promoted in the next few years then that'd be OK.

The sun is shining, it’s August, ITFC haven’t lost since January. 29k will be in the ground on Saturday. What’s not to like? Lots of children and young people and a few old codgers like me enjoying something I never thought I’d see again. My football club. It was dying before and during Evans life draining misery. Not now. The club will be there shining away on Saturday win or lose. In all those excited faces. Hope, optimism, for some an escape, their team. Whether you are a budgie, Cambridge or whoever, you don’t understand what football is. Not a clue. You see the one thing sour and relentlessly negative people like you cannot understand is the football club is those 28k people and 1000s around the world who will be willing their team to win. It’s not the owners. Never was. It’s far more than that.
Ipswich and Norwich in the Premier League on 11:14 - Aug 21 with 1540 views | Bobbychase | 1992-93, us back in the Prem, Norwich chasing title (for a bit). Did the double over them, officially ending their title hopes at Portman Road when Bryan Gunn forgot he could use his hands to stop the ball. Norwich newspaper writer said how Portman Road was a bearpit that night, on a level Carrow Road struggled to match. Great days, would love to see them again.

I am glad someone else recalls those days and respects how big an occasion those were. People forget that we were very unlucky in 1992/93 ourselves, we drew a lot of games we should have won, and lost a few silly games that pushed us further down the league than we probably deserved. We also had a couple of decent cup runs.

…about “the good old days”, so he gets a free pass. Other posters who constantly posted negative comments looking for a reaction have been banned, but not this old fella. Ironically a TWTD legend (in his own mind) got banned for saying how crap the club was, when it truly was! Maybe he should have written a few blogs first.

I was there that night. It really was a bear pit. I also went to the away game and that was fun, even if I was sitting in the River End. Norwich were obviously excellent that season but we were better than them in both games.

I think the concept of Ipswich hating Norwich (and vice-versa) has been around for about 120 years or so. They are not perfectly run either. As recently as 2022 they had a protest after getting tonked 4-0 by West Ham and were wanting Webber out and Delia to sell up.

It always p***ed me off they went to down to league one for one season only and we got stuck there for 4 seasons. They definitely deserve more league one time.
