Couple of things.
Why would Blackburn loan out their skipper ?
Why would he agree 'reluctantly' ? He could have said no.

btw Youtube makes him look like peak Busquets - which is nice.

just found this

Likely to be an option to buy included do you think?

That I don't know for sure, but think it's just a loan as it stands. Obviously if he does well, then it might be something addressed int he summer. Seems there is either some beef with their manager or he doesn't rate him so the managerial situation there might have an impact.

I think the debate about coming into replace morsy is moot at this point, if morsy is available he starts and plays 90+ minutes. Travis coming in will allow rest for luongo and morsy when tiring or at risk of suspension without dropping the standard (hopefully)
Also if he does really well and settles and helps drive us on he could easily be the LONG term replacement for morsy/luongo who are both getting on abit

From what I gather, he's coming here despite having more guarantees of playing time from the other interested clubs.

Sensible for his CV/future when we win promotion to the Prem.
Even if he goes back to Blackburn at the end of the season, he's clearly going to move to another club, having 'Prem promotion' on his CV will help him get a better move.

As one of the main beefs on the Blackburn message boards is that the move seriously depletes the quality of their bench and their back-up options in the squad.

Talk of youth products being the replacement to Travis.

To get a club captain, a key part of Mowbrays Blackburn side to come in and effectively backup Morsy is huge.

But again Morsy is good to bring energy by being amongst our front 4 and pushing them on and so Travis may be used alongside our captain.

Lunongo a bit off the pace of late. Still think Taylor is the future.

He won't start ahead of Morsy will he. But he'll play plenty of games when Morsy is banned, and allow us to take Morsy off from time to time potentially.

There’s a very good chance he’ll replace Mass if he lives up to his billing. Seems like a good signing on the face of it - experienced, quality Championship player who attracted interest from the PL (albeit Luton) in the summer. Much better than loaning in another developing youngster.

Mass yes, agreed. Morsy no.

He wanted to leave in the summer and in October, so not exactly reluctant.

Plus sounds like Rovers are more than happy to get his wages off their books

This doesn’t sound like a player who’s agreed to come in as a back-up for Morsy in 2 key games

He’ll be coming to start and with some guarantees of game time

He’s a club captain, so big character to enter the dressing room. Maybe wanting to be part of a promotion push was his driver.

Perhaps Morsy will go further forward where he is very effective and Travis will play deep. Or he’ll be playing at left back.

It’s a good move but McKenna will have to use his skills to keep the dressing room firing and harmonious.

Does signal an end for Dom Ball, albeit he’ll no doubt start at Wimbledon tomorrow in the Morsy role.

Injuries are beginning to emerge so squad depth is critical now. Travis seems to be a player with flexibility. But defensive midfield enforcer is his preferred - Sounds like he was being as a number 8 by Tomassson, whereas Mowbray got the best out of him in the Morsy role.

One things for sure we’ll be a much stronger team now for the Sunderland and Leicester games.

In McKenna we trust.

Travis was a regular in a decent Blackburn side which finished just outside the play offs in both of the last 2 seasons, so I think he's probably good enough for us and almost certainly an upgrade on Dom Ball. He has 2 years left on his contract there and is only 26 so no wonder he wants to be playing some football. Interestingly, with Travis largely out of the side, Blackburn are struggling this season.

We play such a high line he can play in midfield at centre back.

Absolutely thrilled to bits with this. Morsy is my fave player from his first game - he has transformed us. We need a sh1thouse but playing that role does result in plenty of yellow cards. I've been getting increasingly anxious not only about the 2 match ban coming up, and then a 3 match ban probably later in the season, but the fact that Morsy is 32 (will be 33 in Sept) and whether he will be able to play at the same level if we go up. Bringing is Travis not only gives both him and Morsy the freedom to play tough, it allows Taylor to play in his more natural forward role, and it future proofs us for next season if we secure a permanent deal in the summer. As Travis is a leader, I wonder if he could take over the armband when Sam isn't playing- but would be highly unusual for a loan player to be captain.

He’s not coming here to deputise Morsy, he’s coming here to start, there’s no other reason he’s coming. He’s not going to trade Blackburns bench for ours if he wants games. He’s been a very good Championship midfielder longer than anyone on our books.

He won't be a guaranteed starter every week but he'll play against Leicester and Sunderland and will potentially be part of a promotion winning squad.
