Given how long we chased him, and the investment spent has he been an underwhelming signing?

I know people were saying it would take time for him to get up to speed to our style of play, but he did sign right at he beginning of the summer and had a full pre season, just seems like he can't get going and that is partly down to how well Mass played, but even when Mass has been off it, he still doesn't seem like he's trusted yet.

Clearly he's a player, but I thought after his signing it would be him and Morsy with Mass as backup, not the other way around.

He doesn't really fit into our system, we play with 2 number 6's and a number 10, and he's more of a number 8 (attacking midfielder).

I think we signed him in thinking maybe we'd need to play more of a 433 to get control of matches this season but we've obviously been successful with our 4231

I’m confused. You see Travis as a back to Morsy but if Morsy isn’t available you expect Luongo & Taylor to play in midfield.

Good point, well made. Brain fart on my part. I would have expected that to be the case without Travis, but I guess now that Travis is back up to Morsy, and Luongo/Taylor share the other role.

Genuine question, who would you like to see us sign? You don't seem enamored by any of the suggestions

Unfortunately, the ones I would like we couldn't afford or wouldn't come here. I'm content just to be pleasantly surprised when we bring in someone I didn't particularly rate and they do better than expected. (There are still some who don't, of course, but you can't win them all). I remember being upset when we sold David Johnson and bought someone I'd never heard of from Plymouth - not for long, though.

I wonder if Luongo has played better and more than McKenna had expected. But Taylor has got better each time he comes on. And he also offers us a shooting threat from distance which is important for mixing things up.

He's had limited opportunities but I wouldn't say he grasped those opportunities recently.

I don't think he's really grasped the trust of the management team just yet though. I'd actually say McKenna trusts Ball over Taylor at the moment, so he needs a good second half of the season when he gets his moments.

It isn't an argument of trust though is it, he plays a different role/position to Ball! In an area where KMck clearly has a rigid preference in how he likes it balanced. With Morsy out ball comes in, with Luongo out Taylor comes in. It's hardly rocket science to identify that. IMO taylor has looked better and better in terms of integration particularly in his transition and passing when attacking, what he doesn't quite have is the defensive chemistry or instinct that Mass has with Morsy. But they are different players used for different challenges.

Underwhelming is just the word I would use, but still hopeful that improvement will continue.

Lol, we're a settled team that have sky rocketed to second in the Championship, what were you expecting him to do?

Can you not see by now that whatever you're trying to achieve you're failing miserably.

It really takes time to settle, none of us really appreciate that, he was the number one boy at Posh playing week in week out, to come here and not be a first teamer and not being that "top boy" when he probably thought he would be(they have to think like that)must be a little difficult. We can see what a good player he is, but he needs a run of games, I mean a real run of games...but that simply isn't going to happen with the obvious central pairing we have..

I'd still have him on for Chaplin after an hour or so in certain games, especially counter attacking games on the break where he has the ability to run at defenders and shoot from around the edge of the box, we've seen glimpses of that but there is/should be far more to come.

'ludicrous' 'destroyed'

More hyperbolic words from the trunkety one.

Taylor, scorer of a couple of screamers already, a ludicrous buy - really?
Humphreys destroyed by being part of a winning squad, the success story of 2023 in all leagues - really?

And again, why not debate? I wish Humphreys was closer to the team, and am surprised and disappointed he's not. I guess it is felt he is not quite ready for top-end Championship - I hope he now gets a great loan and plays lots.

What do you really believe, beyond the negative rhetoric?

I think we should see his performances in the context of how much we paid. £1.5M isn't a lot in the Championship and we're the 2nd-4th best team in the league. I've been happy with our three CMs so far and am delighted we now have a 4th. I don't think any of our competitors have CM rotation that includes players who would have been worth less than £1.5M at the age of 25.

I still think Taylor will grow into a role here, he has done better in more recent games than I was expecting

He's scored two crackers so far, I think he will score more before the end of the season

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!
