As I’ve always suggested on here our defence isn’t strong enough on 11:09 - Jan 11 by The_Flashing_Smile | No we didn't. Leeds were just better than us. You genuinely think McKenna instructed us to "go gungho"? Or even, "Play like we do at home"? You don't understand football. |
Lol, bless you I shall await your response about twisting in a moment But no, I didn't say KM instructed us to go Gungho, I doubt he'd say such a thing. However I do feel he instructed us to go out on the front foot and take the game to leeds. Which IMO was the incorrect set up for that specific game. It was an obvious change in mentality from previous away fixtures, as I said the players positioning showed it from the first minutes. [Post edited 11 Jan 2024 11:20]

As I’ve always suggested on here our defence isn’t strong enough on 07:23 - Jan 11 by gosblue | If you’re looking for factual evidence, Town have 9 clean sheets this season, only bettered by West Brom. All the negative talk in the media about us not having won for 5 games completely ignores the fact that we have lost just 3 league games all season. We have strengthened our defence by bringing in Tuanzebe who I think will be right up there with CB legends Mowbray, Hunter, Butcher et al. Edmundson was our best player as Stoke never looked like scoring despite our RB and LB playing out of position. Baggott will be back at the end of this month and Burgess by mid-February and we will be back to full strength. KMck has repeatedly said that the way we play means that we will have to defend big spaces. Up front, until we find a striker, we need to find a different way. Some of the top teams in the Prem have had to learn to play without a CF until the right one has come along. McKenna knows exactly what we need and we need to get behind him and the lads. COYB |
We've had 9 clean sheets, but have conceded 33 in the other 17 games, 8 teams have a better goals against than us. Its the way we concede with some absolute comedy defending, which concerns me. But overall, were in a good situation & everything in our own hands to push on right now. That's a very good post btw Gosblue.

"for some reason we tried to go all gungho" KM is the manager. He either instructed them to "go all gungho" or they decided to do it themselves, which is it?
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

I believe he instructed them as I've already said to be on the front foot and take the game to them as we have to many sides at home where we attack with pace, and leave ourselves open at the back. I personally call that going gungho. But that's me personally and the phrase 'I' would use to describe it. I do not however believe KM would have said the exact words Gungho no, and I doubt he'd use the phrase play like we do at home, you'd imagine by his interviews he'd speak with a bit more depth than that. If you don't understand that, there's no helping you and you're showing another prime example of how YOU prefer to twist things to cause an argument.

I think "comedy defending" is rather overdramatic and doesn't really stack up. In most goals it's possible to pick fault with the defending, that includes most of the ones we score too. But aside from the Leeds game(s) I wouldn't describe many of the goals we concede as being the result of "comedy defending".

Do you think we went there with a different game plan to what we went to Southampton, or Watford, with?

Relax, I've traded several posts with Arnie and they have been very willing to admit that ) that they are indeed female. But people should be kind as there are a number of reasons that result in her posting style which i can understand can rub people up the wrong way, me included, until they very openly and honestly posted about their personal circumstances.

Any more or less bad than someone referring to someone as he when not a he? Happy to pulled up if wrong or inappropriate. [Post edited 10 Jan 2024 22:08]

No, you're not just thick (your words, not mine)...you're a troll and deliberately provocative. It's attention seeking. [Post edited 11 Jan 2024 16:33]

Well I guess that sums things up then, we played the same way there as we have done in nearly every away game - the difference was we struggled to deal with the ball in the final third and got caught quicker on the break by making uncharacteristic mistakes and the game got away from us
