Burgess and the Fridge 08:32 - Jan 23 with 1287 views | Herbivore | Feel a bit sorry for him as I think he's going to struggle to get back in the side if Fridge and Woolf maintain this level of performance. Fridge has stepped in superbly and Woolf continues to impress, just looks like he could slot into any team at any level and not really look out of place, has that confidence about him. What I liked last night too was how naturally they covered for each other, if Edmundson got pulled across by his man, Woolf slotted in on the left until we could reset, and vice versa. We needed that against their attacking movement. Sometimes with Burgess in there it can feel like a more rigid line of 3 or 4 and if one gets pulled out it leaves big gaps, that hasn't been happening as much with Fridge in there. Got to give Fridge bags of credit, he's had a tough couple of years having previously looked the best CB at the club. Incredible professionalism to keep himself absolutely match ready to step in and produce this level of performance.

Burgess and the Fridge on 08:46 - Jan 23 with 1136 views | redrickstuhaart | I think Burgess comes straight back in. Edmunson's distribution is not in the same league, at least in part because he is right footed. He has, happily, cut out the ricks though which is encouraging.

Although conversely, being right footed makes the sweeping pass out to Davis quicker to execute and it curls away from the opposition. Pros and cons with regards to the passing angles. SB
Burgess and the Fridge on 08:50 - Jan 23 with 1097 views | Basuco | Fridge has been brilliant the last few games, and he will need to be equally good in February as we have 5 games in 14 days, with two long away trips to Swansea and PNE. 11 players or even 18 man squad, are not enough to maintain a high level of performance in the EFL today.

There are but I feel its slightly more on the con side than pro. I totally agree with that pass you mention. But likewise if Burgess plays a pass to davis that ball can be passed away from Davis for him to run onto where as edmundsons will curl into him it's slight differences for me that changes certain things.

Don't agree to be honest. Edmundson uses the ball pretty well and whilst Burgess has improved his distribution no end, he's not exactly Maldini. I don't think there's much in it in terms of their distribution, but I'd say Edmundson is more comfortable receiving it in tight spaces and can carry it more comfortably. Couple of times last night he got the ball in a tight spot and dummied his man and skipped past him in a way that Burgess isn't really able to do. It's a good problem to have when Burgess comes back but if Fridge continues playing like this I don't see how he can be dropped.

Agree - it's similar with Hladky and Walton. I'd be very surprised if Burgess suddenly came straight back in just because he'd be available. Edmundson is performing well.

Burgess and the Fridge on 09:03 - Jan 23 with 974 views | textbackup | Fridge has been awesome… BUT being able to ping the ball left footed down the line quickly to LD I think still puts CB ahead of him. Feels a bit awkward when it’s from GE right foot, and easier to read. If I’m being ultra picking

Very good problem to have. Wonder if we might see more rotation in that role depending on the opposition. We've done that a bit this season but could be something we see more of. Woolf looks unstoppable at the minute for me and if we don't go up I could see a Prem side coming in for him.
