Please rewatch that first half and count how many times he pointed to be played through only to be ignored by his team mates.
He has weakness. He knows them. We know them. So you play to his strengths which is put him through on goal. We didn't. Had we. We may have scored first half. It was our only danger to Preston and we time and time again ignored him.
No he's not moore. But i do feel if you play him in He can score goals. But he's not going to unless you do.
Now. That doesn't mean I'd start him uptop not at all. I'm just saying he did start and when he does you need the team to play him in. Otherwise you're playing with 10 men. [Post edited 3 Feb 2024 17:34]

I agree with most of this. He's a decent player but he doesn't fit the mould of striker we need so whilst he's there making runs to no avail.

It’s not Jackson’s fault.
This is what annoys me about al of this. People will have a pop at Jackson and then people will come out and rightfully defend him because he’s the scapegoat.
He’s just a very limited number 9 and shouldn’t have started ahead of the premier league international number 9 we had on the bench.
Jackson can now go back to being a valuable squad player in the positions behind the 9. |  | | |

For clarity, my post before half time was more a reflection of how the game had gone - once Preston were two up it wasn't remotely a game that played to Jackson's strengths.
I don't especially rate Jackson, if I'm honest, though appreciate he's a good player to have in the squad, but he was a passenger once Preston were two up. |  |

But he is. His attributes are why he's still here under KM.
But he's completely different than our previous striker in hirst and different to the new ones. And he's a different striker that doesn't suit our style. Which means the midfield and forward line must use him differently
This is why Jackson looked OK v leicester we played balls through for him. | |

To be honest I can't recall any situations where Jackson had made a good run and didn't receive a pass but he certainly isn't the sole reason why we lost today. Everybody was awful in that first half. No need for him to be made into a scapegoat. Just a bad day at the office but the second half gives me hope. | |

It's been needs must and we've had little other option. We've looked better every time he's gone off in recent weeks. He will barely play now until the end of the season. If he does it'll be a few minutes in games we have won comfortably. As I said, not at the level. | | | |
