It’s not all sunny days… 08:58 - Feb 4 with 9782 viewsSitfcB

A nice saying from our manager.

If the goals alone in the first half are analysed sensibly, which is usually more possible a few hours after the game then you can make it feel a bit better.

First goal: Weak shot from Keane, going wide or comfortably in Hladky’s hands, Edmundson sticks a leg out and desperately unlucky to see it fly into the net. Previous to that a 50/50 didn’t go our way, the ball never ever seems to fall our way, I’ve said it for about 10 years.

Second goal: Offside, enough said.

Third goal: Yeah, our own wrong doing, but that’s our style, take it on the chin these days. But again see the point from the first goal, Morsy slid in and the ball didn’t drop in our favour again.

Now the bad luck and bad officiating doesn’t excuse that first half performance but it is a factor, on another day we maybe go in to half time 1-0 down, we have had poor first half performances this season but mostly we’ve gone in level or down by the single goal and ended up winning and the first half was forgotten, for me in the ground at FT this was the case. It was a strange feeling because we had lost but at the same time the performance in the second half was brilliant and we definitely deserved a draw based on that at the end.

I was ‘Maidstone at FT’ disappointed at HT and didn’t think I’d be clapping them off at FT at that point.

Also left the game feeling very confident for the rest of the season having seen Moore and Ali, it would’ve been nice for them to get a goal apiece really.

I understand why Moore didn’t start but feel he should have, he ended up coming on at HT anyway, so maybe he could’ve started and played 60/70 mins with the game won possibly, we’ll never know.

So now like this time last year, we are chasing the top 2, is that a better way round? Who knows, but there’s 17 games to go and a lot of football to be played, one win in eight isn’t great (Although it’s weird because it doesn’t feel like it’s only 1 in 8) but we’re in a position in the league where no one expected at the start of the season, we have to admit we’re overachieving.

We’ve lost 4 games all season so far. Mental.

No need to panic at this stage, some fans did last year and ended up eating humble pie come the end of the season.

Bit of a ramble, not long woken up in the Premier Inn in Preston, can’t believe we took 3,500ish fans to Deepdale, I’ve been there when we’ve been in the hundreds! Atmosphere was good, especially in the second half.

A week on the training pitch now and bring on West Brom.

[Just to add, always worth reading McKenna’s post match comments…

McKenna: In the First Half Everything That Could Go Wrong, Did Go Wrong 3rd Feb 2024 18:34
Town boss Kieran McKenna admitted that virtually everything that could have gone wrong did go wrong in the first half of his side’s 3-2 defeat to Preston North End at Deepdale. 39

The bit about the third goal is brilliant and exactly what you would expect him to say. Hard to disagree with]

I saw a post where you described Kayden Jackson as being "fantastic" this season. He's had 721 minutes of football and scored 3 goals, 1 assist. That's a goal every 241 minutes. I don't know on which planet that could be described as fantastic lol. Planet Deluded maybe.

That's better than a 1 in 3 goal record from someone who has often played wide right rather than as a striker. Factoring in his assist, that's a goal contribution every 180 minutes (every 2 games for those who are mathematically challenged). And you're having a pop at someone for praising his contribution? Crikey.

I didn't say this season anyway, I said in recent games.

But thicko's gonna thick.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
