Happy 65th Birthday. He did well for us with both arms tied behind his back.

Whilst I appreciate the notice and support, it's not needed. A post celebrating a man of such integrity, charisma and success being derailed by those so lacking those, and every other quality speaks volumes.

A pile on could only be amongst equals. Rats humping around in the gutter and filth because they still can't accept they're wrong is only worth the derision such a sight deserves.

The fact such rich nuance and depth doesn't permeate the hard of thinking binary types and you outlay really well so many truths is what should be focused on.

Ho ho ho ! Using the term 'rats' towards those who don't agree with you.

Coming from the person who has been outraged by the 'den of rats' comment and frequently slated the person from the Talking Town for that comment.

But no hypocrisy at all, eh?

Don't call me a rat. Never ever have I called you like that.

You insult those who don't agree with you. Nothing new. Just like your man m**arthy who loved making derogatory comments about ITFC and its fanbase.

I think the Mick era is remembered differently by those who regularly went to games as opposed to those who didn't

You didn’t go to many games during his time then?

Didn’t realise this thread kicked off haha.

Always makes me laugh that people still get riled by the mere mention of his name.

Let it go.

Indeed, I was a ST holder right through the McCarthy era. I found it infinitely preferable to the Keane, Jewell, Hurst, Lambert, and Cook eras.

That’s one helluva low bar ……but you are of course right. Of those better than McCarthy in my view:

Ramsey, Robson, Burley, Lyall, McGarry, Royle.

Excluded: McKenna - will prove better than Mick. Certainly already is with the way he plays, but he has resources MM didn’t. Scott Duncan was involved with taking the club into the professional era so is excluded. Jim is excluded because while I believe MM is a better manager, I enjoyed watching Magilton’s team more. Mick O’Brien? Pre Scott Duncan and booted out due to some indiscretion if memory serves me right.

Ferguson, Milburn, J Duncan, wasteful Cook, windbag Lambert, achingly bad Hirst, porno Paul Jewell, and the appalling Keane - all far worse.

All these worked under different circumstances and my view is utterly subjective and challengeable.

Yeah, but the football was far more technical under Lambo.

;)

Hey BB… well it’s a f@ckload more technical under McKenna!!

And that’s something we can all agree on - and celebrate!!

Mate, you backed Paul Cook so strongly that you went on a rant about Mullet and Badger destroying the club because they helped to get him sacked. You might want to pipe down about the judgement of others. McCarthy was an infinitely better manager here than Cook ever was.

I just wish I'd known the power I had. I'd have told Evans to give Mick some actual money, sack keane after 6 weeks and not even bother with Hurst, Lambert and Cook.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

Oh no . Even the thought of McCarthy and co coming back would frighten most itfc fans.

Can you imagine Mick destroying all the good work and progress since he left us ?

The term Mickmamentalist or similar a few hundred pages back is the best thing to have come from this whole thread stack possibly only beaten by 2014-15 season. I’m not really seeing how that one season lives so long in the memory, a lot of water under the bridge and long since moved forwards since then.

McKenna has the 16th / 17th lowest wage budget in the league, similar to McCarthy. Just because we have deep pockets, we’re hardly blowing it up to buy the league. Only now are we really seeing some of that really come into effect covering Moore’s wages. We splashed over the last two seasons but were one of the wealthiest at that level regardless of ownership.

So bored of McCarthy apologists. It was possibly one of the dullest chapters in our history alongside John Duncan.

You must have missed the Keane and Jewell years and the 3.5 years that followed his departure.
