New Overground Line names have triggered those you expect on 15:43 - Feb 15 by Ewan_Oozami | Ah, I'm from the time when the round-domed Pitsea market existed and there was just one roundabout at the Five Bells! |
I lived in Pitsea when the massive Tesco opened to great fanfare as possibly the largest supermarket in Europe. Don't remember the market domes, but as we moved to Pitsea in '77 a cursory internet search suggests all of them bar one were knocked down in '78. Sheepskin coat from A W Rust's?

I think they can be left-wing, as long as they're not "nutters"...

I'd forgotten all about Rust's, people used to travel from all over to buy a coat there and look like Motty. My Grandparents on both sides lived in Basildon so remember Pitsea quite well, I also spent a year or so in Basildon later on.

We've recently been working in Pitsea, it is so rough there - the landlady of the pub we were working in had a broken one hand where a local (bloke) had attacked her, she was due in court as a witness for a customer beating his wife up in the bar, the drainage guy confirmed no one should touch the drains as they were full of needles, and another long list of things I shouldn't post on here!

Good to hear that things have improved since I lived there!

Alf Rust's - where all the bikers got their leather jackets! I remember the Tescos opening, my mate got a job there, saved up and bought an Opel Ascona! Off up to Chelsea Bridge or Southend, depending which which weekend it was!

New Overground Line names have triggered those you expect on 13:37 - Feb 15 by Roggydem | The amount of left wing nutters on this forum is very scary. Hopefully not a true snap shot of the town support. |
Careful most of them are Phil's mates! | | | | Login to get fewer ads

And nutters are fine too as long as they aren't left wing. I am still waiting for them to reply as to why it terrifies them.
