Thought it was exchanged every game. Turns out it is given out 2nd game and won by the aggregate team (then lap of honour etc).

Old article on it here including a picture of the trophy=

No offence but who cares?

Just about sums both clubs up. Can't win a proper trophy, so made their own. Bit like sending yourself a Valentines card.

I suspect the vast majority of Sunderland and budgie fans are embarrassed by the very existence of this “trophy”.

Sunderland maybe, but Norwich celebrate a corner with an open top bus tour.

The budgies are continuing to milk every last drop out of their Milk Cup win to levels of embarrassing tin pottery.

The "Friendly Trophy"

The only surprising thing about it is the fact that they don't even bother polishing it, you'd think they'd want to draw attention to any cup they can get their hands on.

They don't know it's a trophy, had so few of them. Probably wondering why they play for a denture pot on a stand.

Interesting. There can’t be many of these quirky trophies around; it’s all the better for having arisen out of something positive imo. Here’s another obscure one: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bass_Charity_Vase seems like a good cause too, still raising funds for medical charities over 130 years after it started. And a rare opportunity for Stoke to win something.

If you can't win proper trophies then create one of your own.
The only problem with this one is there's another team that could win it.

At one job interview I was impressed by the numerous certificates on the wall in the reception area. The company had been the best performing company in their industry for the last 20 years, ever since the award was created.
The Institute that awarded the trophy was created and owned by the company.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

I suppose if you rip it off the stand it’ll fit under the bed. Could do with a handle and a picture of Hitler on the bottom of it though.
