It looks like the Yahoo is doing his best to escalate the conflict to save his political skin.
And then there's killing aid workers in targeted strikes.

Odd that you haven’t called out Iran when they conducted strikes in Pakistan, Iraq, on US bases in the region, and attacks via Hezbollah from Lebanon. And seemed to think that protesters cheering on Iran’s proxies breaking international marine law and killing innocent sailors was okay.

The second part is correct.

The actions of the Israeli State will clearly help take the heat out of that situation.

“Babies wasting away as starvation crisis grows

We were at a bread distribution site in Aden, set up by the British charity, Action for Humanity, and saw the lines of hungry children and families queuing up for the free food.”

I’ve previously highlighted the severity of the situation in Yemen, despite little media coverage. In addition to stopping deliveries of food aid by sea, the Houthis have directly stopped aid workers and ‘reappropriated supplies’ An estimated 17 million people or around 60% of the population are facing crisis level or acute food insecurity conditions as of March 2023. Anybody cheering on the Houthi’s is cheering on genocide.

Certainly. Indiscriminate murder and destruction is guaranteed to reduce feelings of hatred, martyrdom and retaliation for years to come. Especially if we make sure that bereaved and traumatised survivors have no homes, no jobs, no lives and therefore nothing to live for.

Didn’t Hamas reject another ceasefire yesterday? About the 5th or 6th they have rejected since Christmas. A ceasefire requires both sides to cease hostilities.

Jewish news syndicate ? Hardly an unbiased source is it, I’m sorry but there is no justification for what the Israeli state is currently undertaking on any level.

Indeed, since the Iranian backed overthrow of the Yemeni government (According to the UN), over 150,000 people have been killed in Yemen, as well as estimates of more than 227,000 dead as a result of an ongoing famine and lack of healthcare facilities due to the war.

Found it on Reuters. Rejected on the basis that Israel are refusing to withdraw from Gaza.

Hypothetically, if, let's say the Lebanese invaded Israel following shelling in Beirut. Would the Israeli State agree to a ceasefire, if the Lebanese refused to withdraw as part of the deal?

Unfortunately I think the negotiations starting points are too focused in the short term. In reality, it should be Israel recognising the existence of a two state solution and agreeing to put in every provision (destroying illegal settlements/allowing swift aid into Gaza/withdrawing their army) to make this so, whilst Hamas acknowledges the right for Israel to exist. Discussing purely the army withdrawal or a prisoner exchange isn’t dealing with the long term issue, and is just entrenching views further.

Yes they formed a coalition of nine nations to support the overthrown government. Thanks to Iran it is now a failed state, in addition to the Houthi’s Al Queda also have a strong presence in the country. The Iranian militants control a large portion of the coastline and have used famine as a weapon of war.

Totally get your point, but given how hard it is to negotiate under the current more limited terms, I think they're wise to concentrate on a ceasefire now now.

They’re getting nowhere with the current ceasefire because the bigger issues aren’t being addressed. Israel won’t withdraw from Gaza because they believe, probably with some justification, that Hamas will just re-tool and attack them again as they do not believe in Israel’s right to exist. Hamas won’t accept any deal without the withdrawal of The Israeli army because they believe, probably with some justification, that the Israeli government will continue with it’s destruction in a less obvious way as they do not believe in the two state solution.

Until there is an acknowledgement that Israel and Palestine should, at the very least, be two states living in harmony side by side they’ll be stuck in the limbo they’re currently in.

So it's no longer a ceasefire that is being called for but a ceasefire and complete withdrawal to leave Hamas in control of Gaza?

Israel Is at war with Hamas. A ceasefire means a ceasefire. Not an end to the ongoing war.

War should end, ceasefire and withdrawal. They have done enough damage, Hamas is a spent force, but really we know the real aim is the destruction of Gaza making it to all intents and purposes uninhabitable.

Michael Kleiner, a former Likud MK and currently President of the Supreme Court of Likud, was on the Today Programme today. His view is that Hamas has been destroyed as a military threat to Israel, and that Hamas is now much more of a problem to the people of Gaza than to Israel.

The problem though is that those on the right propping up the government, who have designs on Gaza, and Netanyahu for his own political purposes, don't want the war to end.

Clearly thats up for debate.

But what they are doing now is clearly way beyond reasonable or proportionate. Which is why you keep ducking it with questions like that.

In fairness to your comment, I wanted to highlight another ongoing humanitarian crisis and so linked the story from today of children starving in Yemen. I posted it here so as not to hijack the Palestinian thread, alas this has just turned into another thread regarding Israel.
