Penny Arcades - Suffolk 14:30 - Apr 5 with 1132 viewsitfc_bucks

Back in Suffolk this weekend and needing advice. Where's got the best penny arcades? We're based in Framlingham and wanting something with a beach and the best penny arcades.

Any suggestions?

Can’t beat Felixstowe, the pier has an array of machines but can be busy at peak times. Family Amusements the next best.

More retro feel at Mannings.

This is probably right. Southwold has some at the pier but I don't think there is anything in between. Further up the coast Lowestoft and then Great Yarmouth over the border. Southwold would be closer than Felixstowe.

aren't the southwold pier ones now antique vitorian? or am i imagining that?

walberswick has a shed which sells crabbing nets and there's a pub in leiston that has a one armed bandit. that's about it.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

The pier has that sort of feel to it. Themed with some nod to George Orwell as well. There is a little arcade with the twopenny machines and similar in it which is not as old as Victorian! https://www.southwoldpier.co.uk/business/the-arcade/

Yeah, we've done Flexistowe before and it's got the bonus of being able to head to the Gold star for the ladies in the afternoon.

Will probably find out way there then.

Not fancying a trip up the coast, particularly if tomorrow doesn't go well...

Yeah Southwold has a small arcade at the front of the pier but not much in there.

They do also have a quirky bit on the pier itself though with handmade old fashioned machines.

There’s also a couple of good ones at Hopton Holiday Village which anyone can use as they’re outside the caravan park, just a bit further away than Felixstowe.

Yes, you’re right

Aldeburgh & Southwold are a bit twee, they’re ok but a bit too 2nd homey.

Felixstowe is certainly improving, and much more to do for kids. You won’t get much for a penny though.

Mostly the Tannoy from what I could hear. Nothing on Portman Road last Monday.

Lots of memories of Mannings and the pier have come flooding back.
