Just whitewash really isn't it. Some former PO big wigs will turn up, get questioned, say sorry and that will be it.

What people want to see is them going to jail.

I think the trouble is that the stench of this utter disgrace goes all the way to the top of the pile. The politicians want the problem to go away. Of course people should be facing criminal charges and the surviving victims should be properly compensated. Should have been done years ago.

Agree, and nothing would have been done about it if it wasn't for people like Alan Bates.

It’s hard to read any of the PO stories and not feel uncontrollable rage and anger. So many innocent lives ruined.

But in this age of no-consequences, it’s hard to imagine anyone responsible actually going to prison.

A shameful episode.

Would love to see Starmer spend his first 2 years in government nationalising and building up the welfare state on one hand, jailing Tories and fining them and their donors until the money is paid back on the other.

So the public inquiry has nil powers to charge/convict etc. It's role is simply to establish the facts.

The Met police have stated that they have interviewed a couple of people but basically they are waiting for the conclusion of the inquiry before (probably) stepping up and launching a more thorough criminal investigation. I think it will end up with the NCA investigating but that's just an opinion.

Am not a lawyer, but from where I am standing IF any individuals can be shown to have known that the Horizon system was faulty and still gone ahead with prosecutions - they are potentially facing perverting the course of justice.

Gut feel - we'll see sod all happening for a year or so, then a 1 to 2 year investigation and possibly some charges at the end of it.

Why the Met or NCA can't step up their investigations now have no idea. But for now they are doing sfa and sitting on their hands waiting for the inquiry findings to be made public.

A number of MPs and victims are openly calling for criminal charges to follow - don't think they'll be able to get away with sweeping anything under the carpet. But whatever happens, it won't be quick.

And Grenfell.

Grenfell is shocking isn't it?

Company sells material as safe knowing it isn't, fire kills 72 people and 7 years on no one charged.

Think that pretty much sums up where we are.

Describing it as an absolute disgrace doesn't even begin to cover it.

If an incoming Labour government doesn't work to dismantle the structures that make this kind of thing possible then what exactly is it for?

They'll find minor patsy to take the blame, so the rest can escape any retribution.

That’s pretty much par for the course for the director/CEO class. No end of organisations and companies ruined and the only comeback is a golden handshake and bunch of shares.

Add Infected Blood Inquiry to the list. I hope that on May 20th when the Chair of the inquiry Sir Brian Langstaff publishes his report it's as hard-hitting as it should be, on what has been described as The biggest disaster in the history of the NHS
