I hope we send him to someone like Coventry if they would want him.

Under a solid manager. Good players around him etc

Lol your head has absolutely gone again! In what world does Baggott get a loan to Coventry or the like?

A footballing one where a championship club are looking for a defender with international appearances from a premier league club :)

However, I did carefully add the word 'LIKE' coventry and 'IF' they would want him, to my post, but you've seemed to have missed that.

Arf! Surprised he didn't say we should sell Burns (probably still thinks he crap though).

No, I don't think we'll sell Burns, they'll be lots of space from him to run into.

Any players not out of contract you think might be sold N2 or do you think we'll never sell again?

I don't actually, not this summer.

I 100% certaily don't think we'll sell those two players you''ve named. We won't do massive changes. Anyone thinking we are going to overhaul the squad doens't understand.

We'll only buy a handful of players that make a significant different to the squad.
Enough spaces will be made in the squad by losing retirees, out of contract, loans, and fringe players such as Harness / Ball but no certaintees they'll leave. If Jackson wants to stay i can actually see him staying as well.

SO again to answer your question, any player that been a pivotal part of the squad i don't think will be sold unless silly money came in, and we're not going to get a silly offer for Broadhead or Taylor.

Thanks N2. That's all that was needed, a nice reply with your own thoughts, rather than the personal vendetta stuff from old.

I'm caught with the sale side tbh. Not that we have a need to sell but any sales obviously would help.. but I can't see us getting much from fringe players.. so if we are gonna sell then I could see it being a couple who may attract a sizeable amount but not quite silly offers. And with broady hot and cold.. that could be a sale which attracts a good fee.

We'll see. I'm not gonna be gutted if he stays. Quite the opposite really. But from the squad he's only one of a few that I think we'd get good figures for at this present time ( age, position etc )

I don't really see how/why we sell anyone.

They fall into two categories.....

Players we don't want to sell - i.e. Davis - who will only sell if we get an offer we can't refuse which will need to be massive

Players we wouldn't be able to sell - someone like a Marcus Harness, or using your example a Jack Taylor - they'll have had their wages doubled with this promotion, and they won't offer value to anyone in the Championship as didn't prove they were a sure thing at that level last year.

So actually making sales is going to be not in our interest for some players, and not possible for others

Yep. Ladapo is the most obvious one re the latter. A decent L1 player who has now had consecutive promotion pay rises (I would imagine) and is well out of sync with what his market wage would be at a top 6 aspiring L1 side. He will end up on loan somewhere absolutely delighted to be earning the most he ever has in his entire career, and you can't begrudge him it at all after scoring 17 L1 goals on our journey!

I like him - but right now he is League 1 material whilst he learns his trade

He doesn’t Just become a Better player because His team got promoted . That’s not how it works

Quite, I was just enjoying saying premier league club.

How long until he steps upto champ level? he's 22 next year, IF hes to be part of our future, you'd imagine he needs to start climbing the ladder soon no?

Sell Broadhead???

Indeed...

Probably our(as in our and not on loan) most technically gifted player and has the potential to rip apart some PL defences.

Would all players' wages automatically increased due to promotion?

Have to say it's not something I'd considered.

I'd move on players who have consistently been on the periphery this season : Ladapo, Donacien, Ball, Camara, Ahadme and Jackson. Discussions would also have to take place with Walton and Harness, as to whether they prefer regular first team football or playing a bit part in the Premiership.

Baggott, Humphreys and El Mizouni are all worth keeping, as they have significant potential and we need to find Championship loan moves for them to further accelerate their development. All 3 could provide a nice buffer, if we don't survive our first season up.

Tuanzebe and Hladky should definitely have their contracts renewed.

I think (and fully agree) that we'll see 4-5 players through the door, as opposed to 'Nottingham Forrest' style sweeping changes. Shrewd and tactical recruitment is the name of the game...similiar transfers to Davis, but at a higher price point and with even greater upscale.

Agree with you on Baggott. I saw him come on against Fulham and thought he organised the defence well and scored our only goal. He went on loan and despite not having the best of starts ended the season with the loan club wanting him on loan again. Whilst I would in no way question McKenna on his decisions I can't quite understand why Baggott hasn't had a sniff as far as first team football is concerned. But then we don't know how he trains or behaves. But the mere fact that he is still around leads me to believe he has a future at ITFC.

You haven't just proposed a Championship loan though, you've proposed a loan to a top end Championship team with some recent spending power! Or similar.

It was more about the manager and the football played rather than the spending power or success overall of the club, hence the 'like' part. As I wrote it, it was the first club that came to mind when I was thinking of managers who I felt would be a good fit for him. I apologise for not fully writing down the specifics of my thoughts.

Its not about being thinking is he capable of course he is. But that doesn't mean every player can become a prem player. Some will. Some might fail some might not get the chance. But for me. 25 year old who I thought was coming in to replace luongo but continued to be a bit part.. I don't see him as part of a prem midfield but we will see.
As I said on broadhead I'm 50/50 on him. Prime broadhead absolutely. But he's been very hit and miss this year.

I agree KM will improve players. He'll try and adapt players, but this squad will need top top level quality.
[Post edited 8 May 2024 18:01]

With you thinking we need to spend 100 million to replace people like broadhead whois a prime age for improving and luongo bring experience think people are silly to think we need a whole new team just cos in prem league we almost need to be prepared to keeping investing and prepared to go down and up again but be stronger , if we sell most of our players we break up that harmony which got us up
