McKenna & His Agent 12:43 - May 23 with 8338 viewsjampow1

Feels like Kieran McKenna is playing Football Manager and using the 'Declare Interest in Job' button for every job at this stage.

I think he'd do well to rein his agent in somewhat, if it is coming from the agent, it's looking a bit desperate

What do you mean “merely linked”? We have a pretty good idea what is going on.

The Brighton job is his if he wants it. The Chelsea and ManU jobs might be. He is at least in the conversation for both.

We’ve offered him a huge contract and he hasn’t signed it.

We have no idea what is going on beyond speculation and guesswork.

From McKenna's pov it is an opportunity to ensure the future financial security of his family. With that in mind he must weigh up carefully whatever offers come his way - his stock will possibly never be this high again. I would expect the present uncertainty to go on for weeks.

If Chelsea or Brighton (for example) offer him £15m over three years then he may be inclined to ask Ipswich to match it and maybe we would, possibly with a relegation release clause. But I wouldn't see us matching £25m over 5 years.

If Manchester United off £15m over three years then I reckon he'd take it

But there we are... now I'm speculating from a position of ignorance.

Still interested in how Kieran McKenna is burning bridges with the Ipswich board, fans and possibly even playing staff?

TBF, Phil and Joe have both said that it isn’t being well received by the club, and that the noises are coming from one disruptive source. I do trust their judgement.

I think there's quite a gulf between Phil and Joe's description and "burning bridges" - however I don't have any kind of insight beyond the reported facts.

I think for as long as Kieran McKenna is our manager we will have to deal with speculation like this, just as historically we did with Sir Bobby Robson.

I’m absolutely shocked by a lot of the posts I’ve seen over the last day or two, people have absolutely lost their minds. Seen people saying they resent him, he’s tarnished his legacy and ruined his hard work over the last two years … absolute bedwetting lunacy!

It’s like people have completely forgotten where we were before he joined the club, and the 15 years of dreadful slow decline that went before that - McKenna has worked an absolute miracle as town manager yet some fans seem to think it’s an absolute betrayal to even attract interest from other clubs!

His only public comments were those at the LMA awards the other night, and he was typically calm and professional in how he answered the questions put to him. Not a lot more he could really say, to be fair. Everyone just needs to chill out, wait and see, and keep the faith that Ashton will have a plan for if the worst should happen.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

To be fair if he stays is it because none of the mentioned clubs give him a job. And when the season starts would he jump ship at the 1st opportunity. And if here at start of season things don't go well how much tolerance will the board and fans have whatever the facts he has done himself no favours in the last week at all.

No it doesn't. Just because I know someone's talking nonsense doesn't mean I know what actually is going on myself. There is no logic there at all.

DB said "We have a pretty good idea what is going on. The Brighton job is his if he wants it."
Nope. No evidence for that.
He also said, "We’ve offered him a huge contract and he hasn’t signed it."
No evidence for this either. And Phil has disputed The Sun's version of this story.

No, I just deal in truth, facts and evidence, which you don't appear to like.

It's not self righteousness. It's just right.

The reason you won't engage further is because you're wrong and have no answer. You're putting your fingers in your ears and running away.

If he stays it could be because p, for example , Brighton haven’t offered him an input on transfers, he’s reluctant to risk the Chelsea managerial sack race despite the offer and Man U might be considered to much of a mess for him right now. (That said I think if Offered by Manu he’ll take it whatever)

You wondered whether the sun was conscious and have had to ask an internet football forum what to buy and how to do basically anything on many, many occasions.

Indeed, incredibly, today you asked how to fill a hole in a wall while using the word Polyfilla.

Never change, Dolly.

Is it? How is it burning bridges?

Very odd stance to want him to move on quickly when he's merely been linked to jobs.
He's one of the hottest managerial prospects in world football, he was always going to get linked to jobs this Summer.

Quite. I despair with some of the comments on here lately. Somebody soon will be suggesting we bump him off so nobody else can get him.

Just watch what happens if/when he leaves (whenever that is). If he’s poached by a bigger club, there’ll be loads of people having a strop, hating on him, calling him Judeas, etc. It pretty much a certainty. Some people are already at the ‘fk him’ stage, despite no concrete evidence of him being interested in anywhere else.

The agent must be pretty sure he can get McKenna at least one of the ManU, Chelsea or Brighton jobs. This sort of stuff is burning bridges with the Ipswich board, fans and possibly even playing staff.

I really do think it is best that he moves on quickly and we all get this resolved.

I wasn't particularly right as I didn't know what was happening and didn't assert anything. I'm merely replying to people making disrespectful remarks about our manager only a few days ago (so hardly digging) who have now strangely gone quiet. If this is something that doesn't interest you, move along. I don't see anything wrong with having a 'right to reply'. As soon as we start losing games, these are the types who will be piping up again.

I dunno. Phil said the board weren’t overly impressed with the agent’s recent shenanigans. I’m sure they are delighted he signed in the end though. We all are.
