With all this speculation regarding McKenna the silence from the club is deafening. In my humble opinion they should be issuing a statement saying it as it is. This, after all the euphoria of Promotion has really kicked the guts out of the excitement. Put the club in a bad light and reading the comments not done McKenna any favours either. Of course he should have time and a deserved holiday and his achievements will forever be regarded as some of the best in the history of ITFC. But we need to know what is happening otherwise the speculation will continue and certainly take the gloss off recent achievements.

Can't believe Ipswich have not made an offer, would have been crazy not to protect our interest we can only control our side

He already has a contract, which you can pretty much guarantee will have included better pay for reaching the Prem. Plus I don't think he'll be on a particularly tight a leash in the transfer market.

Thay can't compete with other club's offers which haven't been made yet.

Putting an overblown deal in front of him now just looks false and desperate. Plus it would be very hard to pitch accurately. And be unlikely to better what Chelsea or ManU could table.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

That's not totally true. Yes fan and the like are speculating. But TWTD and EADT plus virtually every other newspaper you pick up or every soccer pundit are all saying similar things. The club don't need to state McKenna is staying or McKenna is going. That no doubt will happen in due course. But if as has been alluded to he or his agent have been directly contacted by whoever then the club could issue a statement to that effect and just say we are doing everything we can to keep Kieran at PR. No, that wouldn't douse speculation totally, but it would stop this insane amount of every man and his dog from writing things that could be very wide of the mark.

But the club might not even know if his agent has been contacted or not, there isn't a law or rule that states they have to tell the club

His agent doesn't even have to tell McKenna. You would assume they would, but an agent is paid to manage some of his daily workload.

It's like when you buy a house you pay a solicitor to perform all the relevant checks/paperwork. They don't keep coming back to you and say 'do you want an environmental search?' if yes it's £×. "Do you want a search on planning applications in the area?' If yes it's £×. You pay them a fee to undertake all the relevant items based on their professionalism. In the same way KM pays his agent a yearly fee to perform various tasks that would include initial discussions I assume with other clubs.

We don't know the answer to that

But I do know agents are pro active, that's why they are agents

Pro-active is one thing, but you're talking about initiating contact at places where there weren't* - or still aren't - actual vacancies.

* McKenna's name was mentioned the moment Chelsea parted company with Pochettino, often in the same press story where it was announced. He was also linked with Brighton some time before De Zerbi went.

Can we not just pay the agents the commission they would receive if he moved? They must be able to see a move right now could go badly wrong for him.

Everything he needs is here for him. Ashton just need to ensure we are giving him and his team what they need to be successful. I think if he can see a clear path to success here (in the Premier League) it makes the decision to stay a lot easier. So I do hope they are saying to him 'what do you need'.

Congratulations, I think this is the most bizarre statement on this ridiculous hysteria-fest yet!

Are you seriously suggesting the club pay the agents for absolutely nothing? They'll get a cut of any improved offer but to keep him we should top it up with the commission they'd have earned from Chelsea, Utd etc?

I really don't see how a club statement saying there is interest in him but we're trying to keep him would be remotely helpful.

Haven't they basically said that. As in MA saying he wants him to stay.
