McKenna rumours 19:10 - May 26 with 15277 viewslunatic1988

Any one else heard any McKenna rumours from sources close to the club? I heard his packed up his things and gone already (this was Friday) probably all waffle I know…but from a pretty reliable source. Just wondered if anyone else has heard anything?

Not exactly new news, but seems like things are moving in a hopefully positive direction this evening:

Ten Hag looking more likely to stay, says the choice for McKenna is Brighton or staying at Town

Another source ruling him out at Chelsea

He's turning into a Fatboy Slim tribute act?

I think we really need to start considering his future.

Just to spell it out to you...

The text within the article is less 'click baity' I thought:

"He is currently seen as likelier to go to Brighton if he does leave Ipswich Town"

That's a pretty big 'if', and also at odds with the definitive statement within the tweet.

I guess the word "if" has a bit of positivity!

Always thought Brighton was the more likely destination and risk for us. If the rumour that we're going to make him a blockbuster offer of £5M then it might help to swing things, was quite surprised to see that Brighton are low payers and De Zerbi was on £1.5M.

What I mean is there's no other job for him to go to as of now, so it's unlikely he's going to pack up his desk.

If I was manager of a football club subject to huge media interest about whether I was leaving, or whether there were likely to be vacancies at massive clubs, and nothing had been publicly announced, not sure Id be drawing attention by packing up my desk!
Im sure there are some spare post-it notes, pens available from Brighton/United/Chelsea in an emergency if needed. Brighton probably still get a deal on NOBO whiteboards.
United are bound to have a commercial partner who can get one of those equilibrium pendulum ball things (what do they call them?!)

I heard that too about a week ago from same source who told me about Williams months ago . Praying it’s not true though .

I have my own sauces and they're telling me nothing.

Don't believe a word I say. I'm only kidding. Or am I?

Oddly enough, someone I know, who in turn knows someone who's at the club, also told me McKenna had left on Friday.

I took it with a pinch of salt. Rumours and counter rumours are bound to be running round right now and will do so whilst he continues to be with us.

Someone who knows someone who knows someone reported that “Kieran left on Friday”. Kieran leaves his job every Friday, as do I and then I go back Monday.

Brighton just makes no sense to me. We will be the new Brighton next season if he stays, one with big plans in the pipeline. Whereas there really is no space to grow Brighton, De Zerbi peaked them at sixth place, that is why he left

Could we get just the tiniest bit of common sense media literacy, ffs!

Who in the world is going to start packing all their stuff in advance of officially taking a job? You're in this high pressure situation where 10,000s of people are hanging on your every move (not to mention dozens of club staff and players), you're managing delicate conversations (possibly even negotiations) with your club/other clubs and for some reason, you're like "ooh, better get a head start on picking up the family photo and my favourite pen from the office".

If you've got a mate telling you this stuff then congratulations, you've just learnt a valuable lesson that said mate is either quite credulous or not in fact a reliable source. Useful information for the future.
