Next season we are in mini league of about six 10:11 - May 27 with 3173 viewsbournemouthblue

Saints, Leicester, Palace, Forest, Wolves and probably a random who are having a poor season

We need to be better than three of those which will take some work but is far from undoable

Hopefully the McKenna saga is sorted out soon and we can start progressing with the transfer strategy

I know Ashton is thorough and will have plans in place but this uncertainty can't be helping the transfer strategy with a manager fairly important to the players we do recruit!

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

We're in a mini league of 14 - everyone outside of Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester United. Perhaps Newcastle are taking the step across too. Otherwise, any of the rest could fall foul of the season and go down. All of them are an injury crisis away or an awful run of form from going down.

Forest were in a relegation fight this season. Wolves, Fulham and Brighton all finished the year badly. How long is Iraola going to stay at Bournemouth (as an aside, amazed he hasn't been linked to any available jobs) or Frank at Brentford? What happens to Palace if they lose Olise and Eze? Everton and Leicester have severe financial issues which are still to be sorted. Villa had a great season but a small squad with a European distraction and, again, could Emery be lured away? I'm honestly not sure how West Ham will adapt under Lopetegui and Southampton will be in the same boat as us.

Palace are better than just eze and olise, isn't that like anyone saying yhey'll struggle without zaha? Sounds like your underestimating the quality in their squad. 4 palace players alone made it to the provisional england squad. They are a very good team and if they do lose players they'll replace them with the funds they bring in

And yet, when the pair of them were injured, they looked a right mess, went on a horrendous run of form and 'sacked' Hodgson. A lot is made of Glasner's success, but having a fit Olise and Eze for the most part helped.

I'm not saying Palace will go down or even be part of the relegation battle next year. But they're one of the clubs which could be.

No chance Palace are down the bottom end. Same with Wolves, and can't even believe people are posting Bournemouth will be - they just posted their highest ever points total in the PL and have one of the highest rated managers in Europe.

Realistically, it's us, Leicester, Southampton, Everton, Forest and Brentford for three spots.

I think Brentford will be in trouble, they will lose Toney at least and they were treading water this year, so wouldn't surprise me if they finish in the bottom three.

Bigger pool than that imho. I think that most of the teams in the division are capable of having a poor season that gets them sucked into a relegation battle. There’s very few teams imho who are immune from that fear. We also don’t know what other point deductions may be in the pipes for other clubs

I would say the teams to get points from are… on 14:07 - May 27 with 577 viewsunstableblue

Bournemouth, Brentford, Brighton, Everton, Fulham, Leicester, Forest, Saints, West Ham and Wolves

1 point, 2 points, 3 points, 4 points. Can’t see a double myself. And we may get a great night at Portman Road where we might seize some points off one of the big boys, with the Suffolk crowd at the teams backs.

As for a mini league… Leicester, Forest, Saints, and Wolves, perhaps Everton and Brentford!

In 2000/01 we did brilliantly but were relegated the season after.
Southampton finished in midtable on 47 points in 2003/04 and were then relegated in 2004/05.
Birmingham sat 12th in 2004/05. Ended up 18th in 2005/06.
Charlton were 13 points clear of the relegation zone in 2005/06 after a sustained period in the top division, then went down in 2006/07.
Reading finished 8th in 2006/07, then crashed into the bottom three in 2007/08.
Newcastle ended up 12th and Middlesbrough 13th in 2007/08, then down in 2009/10.
Norwich and Fulham were 11th and 12th respectively in 2012/13, then dropped out of the Premier League in 2013/14.
Stoke were ten points clear of the drop in 2016/2017, then relegated in 17/18.
In 2018/2019, Watford finished 11th, then ended up in the bottom three in 19/20.
In 2021/2022 Leicester finished 8th, but went down in 22/23.

So I'm not going to say it's impossible for certain teams outside of the big six, plus perhaps Newcastle, not to fall due to a loss of manager or key places (due to either injury or transfer). For the majority of the division, survival should be the minimal expectation, then build from there.
