Makes you wonder if some of the three clubs involved got fed up with him and his agent trying to play everyone off each other and they've decided to look elsewhere as a result.
If that's the case and I was Ashton I'd be taking him into a room and telling him if you want to stay here you are going to have to agree to a longer term contract, with far higher compensation figures needing to be provided to access your service and also financial incentives for him to stay and not jump at the first opportunity later.
After the past couple of weeks if McKenna is going to stay, the club needs to strengthen it's position to deal with this situation happening again. [Post edited 27 May 2024 16:51]

Brighton believed they’d have him in by the end of the week. That was as recent as this morning.
Whatever happened today has swung it to McKenna quite simply picking us over Brighton. |  |

We don't really the know the detail, and may never know either. What we do know is, hopefully, the best manager we have had in the past 20 years (who may turn out to be our best manager ever) is staying, and quite frankly, this is a massive result for us. | |
