Obscure Sir Bobby question 18:51 - May 29 with 2417 viewsWeWereZombies

I was staying at the Riverdale Hall Hotel near Bellingham in Northumberland on Monday night and there was a photo on the wall of Bobby Robson with John Cocker and Jim Adams. I guess Robson was in his late thirties or early forties, anyone got any idea who the other two are ?

Was Jim Adams older?

All look about the same age, the other two are bearded and john Cocker is wearing a flat cap. I think it is a photo from a crowd, all seated and wearing coats, might be at the cricket as there was some Michael Vaughan and so on memorabilia in the room.

[edit] But when is it ever cold enough to need to wear a coat at a cricket match..oh, hang on, this is Northern England, isn't it ?

Sorry, can't help you with the picture but did you enjoy your stay? I probably passed you on Tuesday morning as I drove by the hotel on my way to Kielder.

Sounds like they are northerners!

This is one answer anyway:

Whether this is the other I am less certain:

It was a decent stay, all too brief as I stopped on my way north but had a welcome swim and sauna in the evening after five nights under canvas at a quite muddy Bearded Theory festival.

I was off just after ten in the morning to go towards Otterburn and join the A68 only to find the main road into Scotland closed (quite the most dismal diversion signage I have yet to encounter) so ended up actually going through Otterburn and then through Rothbury which looks quite interesting and will probably merit a stop next time I am in the area.

Rothbury is a nice little village, some good walks and they have their own Folk Festival that may interest you:

Raoul Moat's final resting place as well, I believe.

On a similar tip, I will recommend this excellent book on the subject.

Eat at Bewicks if you get the chance, by the church and next to Newcastle House boozer.....the food is exceptional

Cragside, home of arms magnate Lord Armstrong, is well worth a visit....just a mile or two from city centre
