In the same vein, some believe Taylor may be better suited to the Premier League, and I share this opinion. Does anyone think Edmundson could also be better suited to the Premier League? He has been brought into the side when we have faced 'strong runners' at the expense of Woolfy. While I have no doubt we need another center-back, I wonder if we already have one in the building who could be well suited for the Premier League.

Can’t see it myself, one who could be let go I would think, Portsmouth were interested in January.

The only Muff in Town.

I like Edmondson, and he’s always played well on the (admittedly few) occasions I’ve seen him.

I wonder if we do need a new centre back.

With Wool, Fridge, Axel and Burgess in the squad that could be enough. I assume Axel will end up a centre back for us, not a full-back

I think sometimes we as fans overthink these things, you'd imagine if he was better suited to the PL than someone then they'd also be better suited to the lower league than that person.

Interesting one. I saw others discuss Taylor being better suited to the Prem and it aligned with me believing that he perhaps has more attributes than lets say, Luongo to succeed in the Prem. Taller, better range of passing, faster, better ball striker.. I then thought about KMc bringing GE in against players like Delap etc. who you could consider is more akin to many PL strikers.

I've said the same re Taylor, and thought it re Edmundson, so am as guilty of it as anyone - but just think unless a player takes a big jump in physicality or game plan understanding then very rarely do they actually end up better at a higher level.

I think where Taylor may do well, is if we effectively play him as an 8/10 as we saw a bit towards end of season when he'd come on for Chaplin as we may need the extra body and the shape/set up changes

for me the player who is most likely to thrive in the premier league is woolfy. i would expect him to be starting for us even after additions.

I dint think he is quick enough or strong enough for the Premier League to be honest.

I am not sure that Taylor has the technical ability to thrive at PL level but this is not to say that he won't make an impact in games if brought on.

Agree in the main, but do think the Premier League does offer differences over the Championship that mean players can have attributes that are better suited.

We’d often bring Edmundson in when the opposition attack was expected to be more central, on the floor and with pace. And that certainty sounds more like the Premier League, where aerial bombardment really isn’t common.

I also think McKenna may change how we play and formation. I like the idea of a deeper ten, who drops into a central midfield 3 when we’re going deeper, but can break forward. That suits Taylor more than Chaplin.

I’m not sure Taylor is good enough. But I like his energy, longer pass and shot. And to be honest has he really settled into a rhythm at Town yet?

Another consideration is that one of our 24 or 25 year olds may just find a new gear, a new level as they mature and get fired up for the Premier League. I thought Broadhead was mixed last season, but showed flashes of brilliance - as shown in his recent Insta show reel. I think he’ll thrive in Premier League with that extra bit of space through the lines he may get, as town become a more counter attacking side.

Anyway, my thoughts for what it’s worth.

I've always like Fridge and thought he was the stronger out of himself and burgess for the longest time. I think his injury form has not helped and probably gave Burgess much more time on the grass with KM, and to develop his game.

That said, I don't think I could see him better suited to the premier league. Out of all our areas, that is where I think we will need some very solid recruitment over the summer. I don't want to say Wolfie isn't up to it, because we've been proven wrong on that a few times, but I think we're going to need PL experienced cbs nailing down at least one of those roles.

Really valid points. Its definitely going to be interesting as to how it plays out!

Heres to hoping Taylor and Edmundson save us a few quid and be real assets in the PL.
