How do we replace 10 players ? 04:58 - Jun 4 with 2513 views | muccletonjoe | 10 players being released this summer is a fairly big turn around , especially as we are used to topping up the squad over the past 2 years with 4 or 5 players. There is also the reduced capacity for loans in the Premier league. Of those 10 players, probably only 3 or 4 played regularly in the squad, but with only 2 loans allowed , the need to bring in at least 8 players on permanent transfers is most certainly there. How much we are prepared to spend is another matter altogether. With the amount of players we will need , it seems unlikely , but not impossible that we may splash out on a £20 million Hutchinson. That would certainly lower our sights on other targets, with the ground improvements and managers new contract already coming out of the pot.

How do we replace 10 players ? on 06:18 - Jun 4 with 2302 views | tractorboy1978 | The last two seasons signings have been: 23/24 - 7 + 4 more in Jan 22/23 - 9 + 4 more in Jan It's been constant evolution in each window and I don't see this summer being wildly different. Expect we will see 5/6 permanents, 2/3 loans (including outside UK loan) and a couple of free transfers. [Post edited 4 Jun 2024 6:19]

5/6 permanent is unrealistic if the likes of Walton Ladapo Harness leave just to begin with and there will be many more .Luton signed 13. We will be signing 9 or 10 permanent plus loans. The club will be ruthless as they need to be to become a established Premiership club.
How do we replace 10 players ? on 07:06 - Jun 4 with 2064 views | Battersea_Blue | Forget the ground improvements, that's not included in PSR, plus will be written off over a large number of years so as not to adversely affect the balance sheet too much. Manager's new contract, yes, will impact a bit, though remember only 1 year of his contract value will be included and that won't be a total hit either as obviously he was on a pretty good contract already, so only the difference will be extra. For sure KM and his team will have made lists of players they want to bring in. Also, for sure, not all of them will be available, some will have competing offers and choose to go elsewhere, some clubs may refuse to sell or offer improved contracts to keep them. Of course we'll bring in a bunch, as to how many, it's pure conjecture for us on the outside. I think the only thing for sure is that we'll have 2 loanees. We'll use that rule to the best advantage possible, only having those wages on the books for the season, for obvious reasons.
How do we replace 10 players ? on 07:21 - Jun 4 with 1929 views | C_HealyIsAPleasure | That 10 includes the likes of Camara and Nick Hayes, applying the same logic to the last 2 seasons we had to replace 11 last year and 12/13 the season before So the same way as we do every other season basically EDIT - and the numbers above are just those that were Ipswich players leaving, they’re higher if you add in expiring loans (so the same as the 10 for this season) [Post edited 4 Jun 2024 7:22]

5/6 permanent plus a couple of free transfers is 7/8 permanent. How we do it permanent/loan split wise is fairly irrelevant anyway, we will just want the best 25 man squad we can possibly put together within our available budget. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

6 of those last were loans . 2 of which returned to their clubs before Christmas. Some people really don't get it. You're right.

It is more difficult now domestic loans cut from 5 to 2 and basically means got to get 3 more permanents done than normal which won’t be easy

Don’t think we’ll spend anything near that amount tbh. If you spend that amount on players the wage bill will go through the roof

Well quite, but there will be better free transfers available to us, plus loans or cheap ish punts from abroad, which I’m sure is a market we’ll try tap in to this summer. For me, it’s 8+ Hutchinson and Sarmiento returning, or 10 without them. As tractor said above, all will be done within the parameters of what we can spend, etc etc.
