Blackpool 2010/11 and Ipswich 2024/25. 21:27 - Jun 4 with 1936 views | Mercian | Blackpool played very adventurous football that season and achieved 39 points. They did get relegated but 39 points would likely be enough to survive these days. I see similarities between the two sides and if we can emulate them we should stay up. I would be delighted with that. [Post edited 4 Jun 2024 21:29]

Blackpool 2010/11 and Ipswich 2024/25. on 21:35 - Jun 4 with 1853 views | MK1 | Think we will have a bit of a better balance between defence and attack this season. Think we will try and be tighter at the back without effecting our attacking approach to much. We will have to be tighter at the back. That could mean us playing 3 in midfield with one of them allowed a more forward role when play allows.

We were fine away. It was at home it was a cavalry charge! Damn exciting though. I'm tempted to say s0d it, let’s play the same way, hopefully with a couple of better players in the side. We might ambush enough teams to get the job done and surprise a few.

Same tactics but upgrading the players would be a great Plan A. If we can't upgrade the players to the level we need, i guess that's when we'll need a Plan B, which will mean a tactical tweak. It could be argued that tweaks happened in the second half of last season. Tuanzebe coming in for clarke being the big one. Much less adventurous going forwards, better at 1v1 defending and so looked much more like a third defender rather than a second overlapping fullback. Another one kieffer moore as a traditional target man but that was enforced and i'm not sure will stick. I wonder if a dribbler (hutchinson) might start to be a preference in the 10 role instead of a second striker-type (chappers) to turn us into more of a counterattacking team, even if we keep the same formation. Think that's more likely than going with a third midfielder instead of a 10, assome have suggested. Either way i'd love blackpool to be the model in terms of style of play.

Yes I think that's the best tweak to make out of: 1. Just upgrade centre backs - unless upgrades are massive won't be enough 2. Limit 'LB' attacking role - our biggest attacking strength 3. Play 'RB' more as a third CB and drop RW a little deeper - limits attack variety 4. Go to 3 CBs plus wing backs - totally changes the way we play, unwise 5. Play 3 in midfield with one deeper and one more advanced than our current two - best choice On 1. we almost certainly will upgrade in the CB department, but with a new high-grade CM/CB dropper-inner, I could actually see Woolf and Burgess still working well, there's a good mix of abilities in there.
