How dare they take a bit longer.

He's the Prime Minister, so why didn't he tell ITV they'd have to wait? They wouldn't have empty-chaired him for taking a bit longer to be at the D Day commemorations..

For anybody in the Bury & Stowmarket constituency, rishi's deputy chief of staff is your tory candidate.

The Labour candidate is a doctor in the NHS.

Just saying.

He’s never been good at this. Nor at spotting when his advisors give him diff advice (I’m not totally convinced they aren’t setting him up).

They shipped out the repulsive Handcock who might have lost it, and so we'll get another tory prick, who will win regardless.

Also.... Peter is a Norwich City Councillor and works as a Consultant Surgeon in Norfolk. So no thanks from West Suffolk.

Edit. Just checked the full list of voting options. I wouldn't want any of them representing me in county court let alone Parliament.

Interestingly the D-Day Campaign (ie up to and including the breakout from Normandy) took 77 days.

Montgomery's planning assumption was that it would take 90 days.

So he delivered. Another lesson for the tories to learn.

Being fair I think it’s pretty clear that he’s not trying to be offensive at all. He must be on a very tight schedule and one event - on that’s embedded on the National conscious went on for far longer that what he and his team thought. He did say that it was incredible.

There’s so much more to criticise him for than that off the cuff remark.

I'm criticising him for that remark per se

but he shouldn't have left the D Day events to basically go and try and save his own arse. In so taking on the extra commitment of the interview he himself was creating the a tight schedule that didnt need to be created.

D Day 80 6th June 2024 has been known about for 80 year, the whole days events were planned long before the election and should have been a "politics free no campaigning day'

He changed that

and if you think that was an 'off the cuff remark' I suspect you are very much mistaken. He said it before he was 'found out for a dereliction of duty' and I very much doubt he would have said it had he known the result of him running off the beaches.

Yesterday we were told (and it was confirmed by civil servants) that he booked the interview in advance knowing he was not going to stay on for the international part of the event. So that doesn’t sit with today’s story at all. It seems pretty obvious he never planned to stay on.
