Hive Mind - Parking West of London to get into Central 12:33 - Jun 13 with 1932 viewsmutters

Need some thoughts on this.

Am heading into London in a couple of weekends time and I'd like to drive, park and get the tube or Crossrail or whatever into Central London. I am wondering if anybody has any advice as to the best place to do so?

South of London (Gatwick obvs), East of London I have done lots of times, West of London is new to me.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Just to add I will be coming via the M4 if that makes any difference

Ealing Broadway has plenty of parking and good links into the centre

A good option if coming around the M25 would be Rickmansworth as you can get the Met Line or the Chiltern Line into Marylebone (circa 20 minutes). There are a number of car parks next to the station with Waitrose being the cheapest.

Alternatives......
Ruislip (Met and Piccadilly lines) or West Ruislip (Central line and Chiltern) both have car parks next to them with the former being cheaper.
Denham (Chiltern only) it has its on car park although you can park in residential streets a few minutes walk away for free. It seemed a popular choice for Southampton fans and supporters going to the rugby league final.

I'd say depends where you're going, what tube station is nearest and how far in you want to go.
There's Sunday street parking in Pimlico area, but if your vehicle isn't ULEZ compliant then maybe Iver, Langley or Slough.

I would certainly recommend finding somewhere you can park near an Elizabeth Line station over that side - by far the best underground line in London now.

Well, it should be after taking so long and being so over budget.

About 5 years overdue and around £4b over budget.....

This could be a good solution thanks. It means I don't have to go into the M25 and can escape once I get off the train. Any good places that you know off that has great and easy parking?

Not particularly for that side, but you could check out some options for somewhere like this - Hayes & Harlington area - within zone 5 of the TFL pricing for touch-in, touch-out

Heading into central London, not sure about the area yet but it will be within zone 1, probably somewhere down by the river. Maybe Southbank or even up to Camden for food as there is a nice greek restaurant that we all like.

Uxbridge and Hillingdon both have car parks at the tube.

Near Ace Cafe and walk to Stockbridge I think it is.

Ealing common has free parking (or did 20 years ago - check on google street view to be sure)

Do you even need to drive? Crossrail starts all the way out at Reading.

I would need to get to Reading in the first place. Am coming from rural Gloucestershire. I would normally get the train into London but I often have to leave by 8pm just to get the train home due to rubbish connnections

Park in Windsor & take the train from there to Waterloo. Another one I used to use was Sunningdale station.

Whenever I drive in from Bristol I park at Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd’s Bush, not horrendous prices right on the tube and very safe and secure no restrictions on how long you can stay either from memory
