As someone pointed out elsewhere, it's all well and good trying to inflate the price, but that only really works on the assumption that the player wants to go to the club(s) in question.
He may decide that, if a Premier League club is in the hunt, he couldn't give a damn about Portugal or Italy, no matter what their offer is. |  |

True, he may, - but conversely he may feel that going straight to the Champions League with Sporting is attractive, and note that how just one year there has made Gyokores into pretty much the hottest property in Europe. |  | | |
