So do you really care? 22:21 - Jun 25 with 4533 views | Coastalblue | I mean really care like it upsets your whole week? If so what age bracket are you out of interest? I'll watch England in tournaments, support in England in tournaments, celebrate a win, but to be honest, when we go out it's mostly a shrug of the shoulders and oh well, what could have been. A complete contrast to supporting Town, though in my younger days I was much more invested in England.

So do you really care? on 08:34 - Jun 26 with 1190 views | ElephantintheRoom | Other way round for me. Having seen Town in the top division before many times in an era where I recognised some of the players from local schoolboy football and the club represented the region I’m mildly indifferent to franchise football and seeing the club in such bizarre ownership - and I loathe everything the premier league represents whereas I quite enjoyed the novelty of third division football, admittedly from afar. I quite look forward to England in tournaments with no sense of expectation as they have been pretty useless for over 50 years and I’m aware that other teams can be better and/or more lucky, score penalties or not get their players stupidly sent off. I’ve been watching Town and England since the early 60s - and with what I consider quite weak teams Southgate has actually done rather well with a very limited hand. Ipswich have overachieved many times in the last half century…. England haven’t - probably because in football, unlike rugby and cricket we don’t steal other country’s players.

Norwich’s fixtures are out today. Yay!

Southgate reminds me so much of some our recent managers, zero expectation, less disappointment. Yet have one of younger squads but stick with playing those who bore the pants off you. It may also be because we have, at club level, been spoilt for the last two seasons…….long may that continue.

So do you really care? on 22:39 - Jun 25 by Asa | Echo what others have said. I don’t actually really care. Haven’t done for some time. I’ve been obsessed with football since I can remember. Follow Town home and away. Play 2-3 times a week. Even work in football. But I feel quite detached from England and have done probably since my early 20’s. England losing in 90, 96, 98, 02 etc really got to me but I feel like I got to a point where I just expected us not to do anything and even when we went 1-0 up in the final against Italy I didn’t actually believe we’d do it. It would be great if we won something but I just can’t really care about a team that isn’t Ipswich. Even if it is England. [Post edited 25 Jun 2024 22:50]

I find watching England boring especially after the football we’ve watched at Ipswich. Rushed to get home last night to watch the game and fell asleep it was so boring.

I dozed off in second half, woke and fully expected we would be losing.

So do you really care? on 10:06 - Jun 26 with 1087 views | RobTheMonk | I care in that I want my national team to do well and play with a bit of style. But make no mistake, it's a just a distraction from club football for me. The lowest I think I felt as a fan was during the Lambingo era and then the pre-demolition Cook era where he went a bit mental and started calling out the squad. It genuinely killed my interest in football for a while. The post-demolition era was actually quite exciting because signing players is fun. The rest of the Cook era was not fun. And then we got the magician in and all for forgotten. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
So do you really care? on 10:16 - Jun 26 with 1076 views | BlueNomad | I care a bit that people who have no real interest in football feel they need to watch England on the tv, become "experts" and then go on about what a boring sport it is.
So do you really care? on 10:23 - Jun 26 with 1063 views | _clive_baker_ | I still care for the big games. I barely bother to watch qualifiers, certainly don't watch friendlies, and the group stages in this Euros is p1ss poor because we've spent 3 weeks to whittle out 8 teams. There's not enough jeopardy with the lucky loser 3rd place nonsense. But when a 1/4 or semi final against a top side comes around I'll certainly be caring, as I did at the last Euros and world cup against France. I won't be holding out much hope on this evidence, but I'll certainly be caring about it.
So do you really care? on 10:32 - Jun 26 with 1047 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | I've been fortunate enough to go and watch England play live at the nations league and I also did a couple of games the last euros - Germany game and Denmark game. The atmosphere and feel factor of the day is special and memories for life. Watching on the TV will never be the same, like it isn't the same with club football. The group stages usually interest me but this tournament I've felt more up for watching other games than I have England. It'll change in the knockouts when it means more and you get a step closer, but the feel good factor with England this tournament has never got going.
