Security box/ new sky studio 17:03 - Jun 27 with 2099 viewsDorchesterBlue

Did we ever get a plan of how it will look?
Any picture updates have I missed?
Hopefully it fills that corner in nicely, always been a strange looking thing but feels very “Portman Road” and unique

I suspect it is a large empty room at its core with a bunch of prefabs to build a makeshift studio.

Wonder what kind of reception dear old Roy will get next season.

I sit right near that studio so will ensure my ringtone is on maximum volume just in case.

Yes but didn’t Ashton say it was being built on top of the security box? Interesting to see it in progress

It doesn't look like planning permission has been obtained for it - that might be because it constitutes a 'permitted development' which doesn't need it but I was bit surprised nothing went in - they submitted planning application for the remaining exec boxes and they'll make no difference to the outward appearance of the stadium.

It's not a permanent building it is only temporary because at the end of the season, they will have to build an even bigger one for the champions league

And it just shows the beginning of the ground level works and the removal of some cladding from the control room front facia

I do get what you mean, as when you look at the current structure it doesn’t lend itself to having another level above. With the pitched roof and raked windows.

Perhaps it’s a complete rebuild and you’ll end up with two glass boxes on top of each other?

No planning permission schematics have been released as far as I know.

If it's an existing space, you don't need planning permission for windows. Looks like it'll go under the security hutch rather than on top. I assume that is an existing space that is being converted.

It's probably had the old sprinkler and hose stored in it the last year.

Yeah exactly, you would think in the future they will fill this corner in with more seating and move all media, dressing rooms etc to the new Cobbold stand
I do remember him saying about the pitch roof coming off, should smarten it up either way

From that pic, it's on the same level as the security hut overlooking the family enclosure. Roy isn't going to be able to see the goal in front of the Sir Alf from there.

Those remaining exc boxes are going to be 2 large lounges by the look of the plans shown earlier, longe 1 and lounge 2 that look same size as 4 exc boxes , not sure what the thinking is here from the club ?

They're going to hold 40+ for games. When they had to move people from the expensive seats (because of the away fans), they gave those fans the option of having a season ticket in those new boxes. Win, win situation, club earns extra money (someone said it's £5000 for a season ticket in there), and the fans get a great view and food & drink included.
