For those who watched alot of prem football last season. What apart from winning more obviously... do town need to do which the 3 relegated sides didn't do?

They all spent money as far as I can tell.

Where did it go wrong for them and what we need to ensure doesn't happen here.

Did Burnley try to play the same way that got promoted and it didn't work or was it more the players purchased just didn't hit the level needed?

Do you see KM changing how we play. Or do you think the players we appear to be targeting are on the list to play the same way but of course to that higher standard.

I've always felt our style of play under KM was always better than the level it was playing in. So I'm excited to see what we do.

Burnley didn't retain the 3 key loan players that got them promoted.

Sheffield Utd sold their two best players.

Luton started from a very low base.

A lot of football is also linked to habits and confidence.

In burnleys and sheff utd's case i do wonder if psychologically they are a bit damaged from previous relegations. It must be hard picking yourselves up after a couple of early season defeats if at the back of your mind you have a nagging doubt in your own mind if you are good enough.

Sheff utd were superb in there first season back in the prem cos they were fresh and played with no fear

We need to embrace it, stay level headed and fight together all strengths we've seen from the boys which comes from the management

If we question our place there then that is when you lose that edge and things go wrong, just keep believing we are good enough

Just need to target enough points to finish ahead of the bottom 3. We need not to make newbie mistakes and play like a midtable team. Need to be the team that everyone hates to play against. The good stuff comes later when we consolidate our position at the top table.

I think we are in a very tight mini league, us, Leics, Soton and Forrest.

I think Everton look solid enough under Dyche, even a points deduction couldn't relegate them theyre like a cockroach and without a deduction this year you'd expect them to be OK.

Palace, looked good under Glasner, expect further improvement.

Fulham, done well under Silva, lost their star striker last summer and still stayed up with 47 points. Losing Paulhinia this summer may be problematic

Wolves, improved under O'Neil

Bournemouth, Irola has them playing well, if they hold on to Solanke they have goals in the team.

Brentford, struggled a bit last year and I'd they lose Toney they might get dragged into a relegation dog fight

Everyone else will have European ambitions.

We need the quality to compete with the midtable too amd hopefully cause a few surprises

when we got promoted in 2000, Elvin King in the Star printed a mini league of us & the 5 other teams that were expected to finish around us near the bottom of the league according to the bookies/pundits etc. I think it was called Elvins 6, but dont quote me on that.

the theory was simple,if you beat the teams, or at least out scored them in points in your mini league (all the other fixtures you played didnt count in this as obviously then youre just printing the actual league table), but funnily enough you tend to finish ahead of them or higher up the table than them. We finished top of that mini league, and were obviously up much higher than the bookies/pundits had expected pre-season.

for some reason they dropped it for 2001/02.

I think KM will stay exactly with the way we play and aim to do it better with an upgrade on one or two positions. Why change what has served us so well? It was the way the team knitted together more than the individuals that got us promoted. Don’t change it.

Are we a better team at this stage than Burnley, SU and Luton were this time last season? I think so. If that’s the case we start from a stronger position. Others with more knowledge have given a more informed view on why the above failed. I didn’t see much of those teams in the PL last season tbh, but of them Luton did the best despite me thinking their style would leave them well adrift.

I don’t really buy into the ‘mini league’ idea. I’m more into the cliche of a game at a time and see where you finish because bar the big hitters some teams will unexpectedly struggle, others will exceed expectations. Will we have enough for the latter? No idea but heck, it’ll be interesting and I’ve a sneaky feeling we will be alright.

I think Burnley were too young and also signed a keeper who was great with his feet, just couldn't save anything.

Luton seemed to do a lot right, it just wasn't quite enough, Sheff Utd were doomed from the start.

I think first half the season we can surprise quite a few teams - that often happens when newly promoted sides come up with a different style - it takes a while for teams to figure out how to counter our system.

It's going to be really interesting how we deal with everything from a psychological viewpoint. This team and management have been on one hell of a run since league 1. But no we have Liverpool and Man City coming to play.
