For all we know the player told the club that he’ll make his mind up by the end of the week. All of the other stories could just be Twitter accounts etc making up stuff. Just pointless noise made louder by how many people retweet it. |

He is in turkey with the club he is currently employed by. Hull city.
He does not need to be here to conduct contract negotiations. His representatives can do that for him. Phones and emails are a wonderful tool nowadays. [Post edited 12 Jul 2024 9:58]

It’s all fairly standard stuff really. Now we’re in the PL we’ll struggle to keep our dealings under wraps. If, like Ashton, my job got reported every few hours then people would also think it’s not worth it. Ashton is paid handsomely to deal with this.
We can only sit back and wait. The media circus is there for football fans who need constant stimulation.
If I’m in Philogene’s situation then I’m definitely weighing up my options if I receive 4/5 new job offers. He owes nothing to the clubs who are touting him - including us. |

You need to relax a bit friend. It either gets done or it doesn't. No need working yourself up over it. Just control the things that you can - which is probably nothing in this case.
In the prem everything gets magnified a lot. I bet some on here read every link and take them for gospel truth, they are not. Just enjoy the ride my friend.
Look what happened with the manager. His agent played a blinder and got his client a great deal. Hladkys agent tried the same trick and got binned.
Philogene has got a big decision to make. He is not going to do it in haste. His agent has also tried to maximise his deal. Which is great for both of them, but they may also burn their bridges further down the line.

Worth "it"? What is "it"? If "it" means reading endless online articles about the latest speculation, then no, it's not worth it. So stop reading if you're not enjoying.
If "it" is: carrying out commercial negotiations in order to acquire an asset that we want, then yes, it is very much worth it. I've never heard Ashton complain about doing his job.
Greaves may very well be through the door. Your complaints seem more about media presentation than footballing substance. I'm more concerned about the latter, and only when I actually know about it will I cheer or grumble.
There's the Euros, the Lord's Test, Wimbledon, the July Cup meeting at Newmarket, and the Olympics (on European time, to boot) in a fortnight. If there's nothing in there more interesting than football transfer non-updates then sport has a bigger problem than I thought. |  | | |

There are 3 separate clauses on Jaden's contract relating to Villa - a sell-on, matching rights, and a buyback...
The buyback is void - Villa have the right to buy Jaden back for a set fee of £15m (on a contract on a pre-arranged wage) IF Hull are promoted to the Premier League. Hull weren't, so Villa can't activate the clause.
Matching rights - Hull are obliged to tell Villa of any bids they've received and accepted for Jaden, and Villa then have 72 hours to match the bids. Jaden will obviously have the final say in which club he decides to join (if any)
Villa have a 30% sell-on clause on Jaden's contract, so if we sign him for the reported bid of £18m, they will receive £5.4m of that from us (via Hull). If Villa sign him, because of that clause, they will only have to pay Hull £12.6m (kerching - cashback)
It does stink a bit of Villa realising they can pick up a £20m+ player in a cut price deal with a view to selling on at a profit at a later date; he wasn't given much of a crack at the first team in his first stint at the club, so hopefully that's still in the back of his mind. |
