I watched Wark all his peak years and it was a true pleasure I didn’t fully appreciate at the time being a relatively unknowledgeable (about football) teenager. Odegaard is a much neater, more technical player but not in the same league as a box to box goal scorer. I struggle to think of anyone currently who comes close. I’d say Lampard has probably been the best I’ve seen since Wark in that type of role in more recent times. [Post edited 5 Aug 2024 8:01]

Blimey I'm getting old! I remember his debut v Leeds in 1975. I sometimes used to think Warky's done nothing today, hardly been in the game, yet has scored 1 or 2 goals. Great finisher with a knack of arriving in the box at just the right moment. Even when he left us & joined Liverpool, he outscored Ian Rush in his first season. |  | | |
