Once again Phil, the nail is hit upon the head. by your goodself here.

He also upped the OP wishing he had a pish birthday so no love lost there!

Surely we can organise to send him a birthday card smeared in poop?

I see that! Let's be honest though, Lambert did treat Phil very poorly and as a man, he camè across as a kn0b most of the time so I can understand Phil not wishing him Happy Birthday.

By whom is Cook revered?

There's not very many here who are are Keanish on him, to be fair.

I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.

He inherited a team in freefall from our worst ever manager bar none, was given no budget (partly because his predecessor was given a few quid for the first time since Keane), achieved a better win percentage than Cook (who seems to be revered), despite some of his time coming in a higher division, correctly identified that the structure of the club needed sorting, and had the courage to say it. Sure, his time ended in failure and was far from a success. The same can be said of many players.

Why diarise significant dates in such people's lives in order to throw stones? What gem of wisdom will we have on the anniversary of Mick's confirmation? Marcus Evans' wedding anniversary?

Having said all that, he doesn't need presents given the wages the club will still be paying him until 2025. That decision was not the club's finest hour.

Super Mick shouldn’t be uttered in the same breath as PL. PRP was our worst ever manager and I’ve never been more embarrassed than when he was in charge.

I expect his monthly pay from Ipswich will be spent on some lovely fizz.

I don't have a little notebook of people whose opinions I disagree with in order to dig up past grievances.

But whenever there is a news story regarding Cook there is always a range of opinions about him, some of which are pretty glowing. It is nice to have a smiley manager, but Cook's record was worse than Lambert's. Lambert was a failure, no doubt about it, of course, but I just don't understand what anyone gains from being unnecessarily mean to one in particular out of a long list of failed Ipswich managers from the wilderness years.

Cook gets praised for some of his signings and for appearing to be a decent bloke who was just out of his depth with us. Lambert always played the Billy Big Bollox card which is never gong to go well. And inviting ex-players to the training ground and putting a few quid behind the bar to buy fans a pint isn’t much of a strategy.

Whatever, thankfully all behind us.

Club spent very significantly on loanees in his first January, but I do agree the claim we were relegated without a whimper is a bit of a rewrite of history. More than often we played well but couldn't turn performances into wins.

Club won't still be paying him, there will have been break clauses, there always are.

decent between the boxes is how i would sum up that season. In both boxes, woeful!
