Too cheap for him I agree. Whilst I would love to snatch him at the £10m-£12m mark, undoubtedly a £17m player. Top player. Missing a huge open goal if we aren’t pursuing him right now.

He has a release clause right ? Or am I making that up

I remember it being reported earlier in the summer that he had a release clause of €20m in the event of relegation, so the £17m would be in that ballpark. I don't know anything about the crediblity of this source though, so it may well be one for a vintage Phil phrase of dismissal.

There is a relegation release clause, was reported by local Coventry journo - although no definite figure has been stated. Reported Sheffield Utd willing to listen to offers around £15m though, and Hamer looking to stay in the top flight. Has to be done this one.

That's quite a leap isn't it? Just because the termination date of the point at which they must talk has passed, it doesn't meant he's not going anywhere!

Could look at it two way, depending on what that clause is, if any clubs want to negotiate a lower fee, they’ll probably be waiting for any clause to expire. However on the flip, if that clause is a sensible and realistic figure like £17m, and we’ve allowed that to expire, where Sheff Utd would obligated to accept, then it it’s poor. Have to bring Hamer in, he fits the profile and statistically fits the system for a partner to Morsy better than any other player I can think of.

I don’t think anybody is applying any credibility to the original source. More just discussing the player.

It means they can dictate the price though. Have no idea what our plan is for central midfield, but missing the release clause date on such a quality player isn't great. Unless we knew he wouldn't be interested.
