I'm a woman, who has lived and loved football for 47 years. But I do find some of his comments true, much as I wish I didn't.
What I will say, is: if men and women can offer comment on the game of tennis, regardless of their gender, then surely the same can be said for football?
I take Joey's argument fully on board, but, in my humble opinion, he is being short-sighted. Why shouldn't a woman understand the rules of football, gauge its application in a female or male setting, and coach accordingly?

It’s loosely based on the old broken clock syndrome. A busted timepiece is right approximately once in every 43200 attempts. That might be overestimating Mr Barton hitting the nail on the head, though.
Women pundits can't comment on men's football as it's not the same? What about the average male fan who has played Sunday league at best?
Barton is now desperately trying to stay relevant to the small percentage of football fans who think anything negative is somehow the truth everyone else is too afraid to say.
It's not just women he's jealous of either. The civilian is now a Premier League manager.
He’s just a violent thug who never takes responsibility for his actions. If he wasn’t a footballer and famous, we would have all seen his face in the press for being involved in the recent riots.
Joey Barton, c**t.

I'm not going to click the link because it's Joey Barton, but from the headline can I guess that he's suggesting we couldn't have a female coach in the men's game?
If so, I think the only reason he has a point is because there are so many dimwitted Joey Barton types out there, that she'd be under 10,000 times the pressure of any other coach (and potentially from the players as well as the fans), so she'd have an uphill battle from the start.
Of course, a woman could do the job just as well (men coach the women's game, right?! And they do OK having never played their game).
Also, just to reiterate: Joey Barton is a hateful pr!ck and we really shouldn't give him airtime.

I can’t remember which poster stated this so apologies to them.
As country we have had female PMs and we currently have women in positions of great responsibility. From big business to NHS Trusts etc etc. Anyone who thinks that we can’t have women coaches in mens football (yet alone have an opinion on it) is an idiot.

People like Joey Barton live for the attention. If people didn't listen, didn't respond, Joey Barton would go and hide in the corner. Simply ignore him.
That's one of the many problems with the Internet, it gives people like Barton a voice that he would never have in pre social media days. I appreciate it's important to challenge morons like Barton but if we stopped viewing, reacting to it, it would stop.
Bit like that stupid comment last week from Carol Vorderman about Elon Musk and that X needs a new owner, while posting it on X. Guess what Carol, if everyone came off X, the advertisers would leave it and X would end up with a new owner. Delete your account Carol, start the process. If people took actions rather than waiting for someone else to do it, things would change
