Ticket info for this match just popped up on Twitter. Clicked the link and it looked like the normal sales process eg non season ticket members with one home game last year. With that link there was another link to Villa ticket info which looked like it was for a ballot that started on 30th August and ended on 2nd Sept!

Have I got confused, thought the ballot was for after the first raft of ticket sales?

I'd stay there and refresh as no doubt a few will appear over the next 10 or so mins as they fall out of peoples baskets (will have multiple people in same group getting tickets so it'll happen as one side buys)

Yeah I was straight in too, my Dad tried and he was 4000th so no idea what was going on!

I'm tasked with trying buy for family with my Dad's login (combo of struggling to be online at this time and not good at computers) and on previous attempts have been unsuccessful in ballot and queue number. This time around I was in the 'no queue' group* on normal Google mode, such that I thought there may be a glitch and also joined a queue in incognito browser just in case - maybe there is an allocation of members for each home game who receive instant access.

*I had access to the ticket site between 9:30-10am without the queue system generating, then was able to 'add to basket' as soon as it hit 10am.

Not sure that’s the case. For every home game this season my queue numbers have ranged from 400 to 6000. The queue is normally completely random regardless of when you log in between 9.30 and 10.
If people got in quick today, they may have been at the front of that queue or possibly there was a glitch.

That's been my experience for Liverpool and Fulham too. On this occasion though I was free to browse the ticket site with my logged-in account throughout the half-hour window, opening all the tabs including home tickets, where it showed Aston Villa with the greyed-out 'coming soon' button. I kept refreshing the site to see if the queue system would generate and had my incognito tab open on standby (where I was placed in the normal loading queue without access to the site) but at 10am the 'coming soon' button changed instantly to 'add to basket' and I was into the ticket map. I mention this only so people don't panic if they ever find themselves in the same position - maybe it was a glitch but I'm not sure.

The website is awful … every time I click on a seat it’s gone by the time I want to proceed …. Joke

The thing is I understand the difficulties here. I appreciate the lottery element.

This was my first attempt as thought Liverpool was a no chance.

So I can put my attempt todays as a learning curve in terms of what to expect from the system.

However, there seems inconsistencies in terms of how people accessed - In the Q / Couldn't get in Q / Google incognito / Some just logged on a 10am and got straight on / Why when offered a ticket it either isn't then there or you click on the seat, it flashes 6 times and does nothing. I am sure there are more.

I just want to understand the process better. I feel I am no better equipped to try for the next game.

This was hugely frustrating. Everyone is racing to hit F5, click on a block, then hit the seat and then hit add to basket. Took about a dozen goes, but managed eventually.

I'd like the ability to just tell it "I want 1 ticket anywhere, tell me when there is one and add it to my basket". Especially when it is just single tickets dotted all around the ground. Easier said than done though I imagine.

At one point I had the tickets ready to add to basket and then said weren't available. I guess its pot luck!!

Yep, the seat selection process is ridiculous, the fact you have to select the seat and then add it to your basket wastes precious time, a lot worse when having to buy multiple tickets.

My understanding of the system in full:

1) Visit the ITFC ticket site between 09:30-09:59. A 'waiting queue' should appear, with information about the queue system. Keep this internet page open and don't refresh it. At 10:00 everyone in the waiting queue is randomly assigned a queue number, whether they joined at 09:31 or 09:56. Anecdotally, those in the first 2000 of the queue have a good chance of buying tickets, though the family of four would obviously need a lower queue number than the single person to have a chance of buying what they need. Once assigned your queue number, the waiting time and number of people before you in the queue will periodically update until you find yourself at the front, then access to the ticket site will happen automatically (do not refresh the internet page or you will lose your queue slot). Log in to your account if not already and then the home game should show the 'add to basket' blue button. I stay signed in to my (Dad's) account to avoid this small step - every little helps in the mad ticket rush.

2) If instead you see the 'sold out' button, there is a small chance over the next hour or so that others will release tickets from their basket and these become available again, returning the button from 'sold out' to 'add to basket', but these tickets appear and disappear in a flash.

3) If you add ticket(s) to your basket but rather than be taken to the usual review purchase screen, they instead flash, disappear, or some other error occurs, unfortunately someone else has successfully added said ticket(s) to their basket moments before you. The higher your queue number, the more often this happens as the scramble gets more and more intense (fastest finger wins).

4) Some have spoken of visiting the ITFC site between 09:30-09:59 with multiple devices and multiple internet browsers. They do so with the intention of receiving more queue number slots at 10:00, and then they turn to the device and internet page with the lowest queue number once the random queue assignment has completed. I don't promote this strategy but people should be aware of it, that some are greatly increasing their chance of buying tickets this way.

5) Occasionally someone may find that the normal waiting queue doesn't load for them when they visit the ticket site between 09:30-09:59, and instead they are able to view the ticket site like they would at any normal time. This may be a glitch or it may be that a small random allocation of people are lucky enough to receive instant access to the site each home game. It happened to me this morning and at 10:00 the Aston Villa button changed for me from 'coming soon' to 'add to basket'.

6) If lucky enough to receive instant access or a low queue number, the largest amount of available normal seats are in the SAR stand. This is your best bet if you struggle with fastest finger and want to avoid restricted view seats. If you're not fussed about 'restricted view' and need a long line of seats together, the back seats of the West Stand hang around the longest. I can't speak for how restricted this view is, just that these are less popular and so are the easiest to add to one's basket.

Yep, the seat selection process is ridiculous, the fact you have to select the seat and then add it to your basket wastes precious time, a lot worse when having to buy multiple tickets.

Added to that, the ‘best available’ can be used, it’s at the top of the seating block plan, you out the quantity of tickets in and it gives them to you, you still have to add them to your basket though but it’s quicker than selecting each seat.

I was number 600 in the queue today and should of had no problem securing two tickets but due to the loop hole of staying on the 'coming soon' screen then refreshing at 10am I only saw a few left for sale.

Loophole? There was definitely something off today. Tickets sold out a lot quicker than Liverpool and Fulham

Indeed. Like I have said above I get the lottery element. I think the queue aspect could be consistent and then the adding to basket before the seats are gone could be less frustrating.

Forlorn request I know but if any kind soul who cant make the Villa game who would be happy to let me purchase their ST or has spares please DM me.. (Ideally would like a pair together but happy with 2 x singles). Thanks in advance.

Agree. Think it was just a glitch today. Not seen it before.
Everyone will moan about the system when they don’t get a ticket and claim it’s unfair.
Personally, I think it’s unfair the priority for home games was set at just one match last season.
But the club had to make a call between rewarding loyalty and attracting new fans that will form the lifeblood of the club. For me, one match is too low but it is what it is.
As for selecting seats that are already selected, that’s frustrating but no different to other ticket systems. It’s even worae on Ticketmaster etc.
Problem will be solved when we redevelop the Cobbold. Non season ticket holders won’t stand a chance of getting a ticket while the capacity is reduced for building!!

Same. Was 650 ish in the queue and only singles left dotted around when I got into the ticket area.
