O'Shea is utter pish. Awful game, giving me Delaney vibes.

Where on earth did I say it did 😂😂😂

Just saying he didn't do a lot one way or the other , so can't really comment on his performance.

Wind yer neck in lad it's Sunday morning 🤣

Having watched back the highlights again.

Can I ask for your feedback on the following based on some of your posts above about o shea.

You said oshea got out paced in the post hit shot.. what about greaves who lost his man?
What's your thoughts on greaves in the goal conceded
What's your thoughts on greaves sliding across when not needed in the 2nd half when they almost scored.
What's your thoughts on greaves kicking the ball out for throw ins when no one was anywhere near muric

I think we should be happy we have two very good right sided centre back options. Personally, I don't think there is a lot between O'Shea and Woolfenden, albeit both probably have one or two attributes where they are better than each other. Woolfy can count himself unlucky to be dropped but lets not manufacture issues with O'Shea's performance. He's done perfectly fine. The real question should be is O'Shea an upgrade on Edmundson? Yes.

It's not manufacturing issues to say O'Shea was partially responsible for their goal yesterday (albeit not to the extent of either Tuanzebe or Greaves) plus allowed himself to out muscled and/or paced on a further couple of occasions. Ironically that's been the major criticism of Woolfenden by his detractors - his strength and pace. And none of the errors had anything to do with him still getting used to his team mates. He had a bad game yesterday and wasn't great against Brighton either.

In fairness, I didn't think much of Muric against Manchester City or even Fulham (though it was an improvement) but things suddenly clicked at Brighton so the same may happen with O'Shea.

yes I agree, greaves also had a bad day at the office, as did a lot of our players. (I've said elsehwere on the forum that I believe that to have been our overall worst team performance in the league this season & that frankly we're lucky it came against southampton).

Despite a bad day at the office for greaves I've seen enough of him to know he's streets ahead of burgess.

I'm yet to see the evidence to reach the same conlcusion in the O'shea vs Woolfie debate. And it needs to come soon, otherwise Woolfie would be entitled to feel particularly hard done by.

It's fine to have a discussion or a debate but it's completely beyond me how anyone can form a strong opinion on O'Shea from such a small number of games. I like Woolfy, I like O'shea. Whoever plays has my full support. The reason this thread has had such a negative response is O'Shea has been called "utter pish" in the OP.

Greaves signed in early July. Had a pre season with town

Oshea signed late August and has also had an international break within that too. Yet you're expecting him to slot in without an issue. It's just odd.

O'shea did sign late, and had an international break. I'm aware of this. So the question is why doesn't Woolf start these last few games and give o'shea a few more weeks in on the training pitch beforehand, instead of being thrown in at the deep end.

I am expecting him to slot in without an issue, precisely because McKenna has picked him.

Woolf should be starting. O'Shea should be getting up to speed on the training pitch. And then I would have preffered to see O'Shea's first start after the next international break.

You say: "Yet you're expecting him to slot in without an issue. It's just odd"
So by your own admission you expect him to slot in WITH issues, and you're happy with that? given Woolfie's issue-free performances against liverpool and city. it's just odd.

Because greaves at the pre season games to get match minutes oshea doesn't have that luxury so to get him going he needs to play games and it makes absolute sense.
I don't see how you can say wolfy was issue free. If you go back and actually watch him with your oshea eyes you'll see he made mistakes.

But, as you say, every player makes mistakes? You claim it's unfair to call out O'Shea for errors but have never given Woolfenden the same courtesy.

Let's be blunt, the issue so far THIS SEASON is O'Shea has made more errors leading to or nearly leading to goals in his three starts than Woolfenden has in his three. Yes, he hasn't had summer etc. but not having time with team mates does not excuse him from being out muscled or out paced, which are two supposed key reasons why Woolfenden was dropped at the first opportunity.

Woolfie problems Vs city and Liverpool please?

How many games are you giving O'Shea to bed in? -genuine question.

If he plays like he has been up to Everton. Do you bench him for Brentford?

And that warrants personal insults? Classy

Eh? Why you aiming that at me? And the OP's message is completely lacking in class and an unwarranted attack on one of our players.

I've not personally attacked him. Dear oh dear.

It is, I think you are being seriously disingenous. I am a really big fan of Woolfy but not sure you can really argue strongly we'd have been better or worse with him playing in the last two games.
