Why doesn’t Leif try to put him off? 23:32 - Sep 23 with 2894 views | Matt_Netherlands | Possibly being over critical, but why does Leif seem to stop and give up half a second or so before Dibling shoots? Hes obviously made up his mind he’s going to score (which is obviously correct!), but I feel like a Greaves would have at least thrown themselves in the way, eve. It’s if just to be off putting.

It's a very good pass, and a very good first touch by Dibling. He completely took Greaves and Davis out of the equation. It happened so quick that Davis wouldn't have been able to make a challenge.

He could (and may have done, it's hard to tell) shouted 'BOO" to put him off

I think he had started on 'Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibling, Grubb' but faltered when he realised that Tyler is too young to get the reference.

Agreed. The problem occurred earlier. The pass and the finish were in the blink of an eye and excellent. Nothing much anyone could do about that and it’d have seen off better defenders than ours. Sometimes you have to give credit where it’s due.

But that as it turned out was irrelevant.. [Post edited 24 Sep 2024 9:02]

Thats the issue though in mind. I feel Leif made a big positional error for the goal, he was too worried about the winger when the danger was straight down the middle. He should have been tighter to Greaves and if they ball is then played out right by AL then he goes and tries to close that down asap. Only a small minor detail and in the championship that pass isn't probably played and thats the difference. Still everyone is still learning but we are finding out how efficient teams are at this level. Also, Axel just kick it out ffs.

I know for some Davis is the target, now Muric is proving his worth, but I have to disagree with that. He cannot be everywhere all of the time. Had he gone to the centre and the ball had switched out wide he’d have been rightly criticised for being dragged out of position. The pass and finish were so good, there was little the boys in the middle or the keeper could do about it. It was an excellent goal. I agree with your last paragraph though - Axel, next time just hoof it out!!

If you are going to pull up either Greaves or Davis for not being tight enough then it would be Greaves man. But the ball was class, unexpected and the first touch superb. If we want to pin fault anywhere then O'Shea mistimed his clearance and got lucky as it fell to Axel who then passed straight back to them. And Muric also went down a little too easy and gave the whole nearside of the goal to roll it into.

Exactly this, a great take on the backfoot and took Davis and Greaves out the equation in one move and opened up the entire goal. He actually had a second touch which was class as Greaves may of got a toe to it otherwise.

Don't think Ashton has been at the last couple of games... Phil any idea? Maybe in the US.

He was in B&Q on Thursday night buying power tools. My bet is on Saturday he was at Portman Road with denim shorts and his shirt off installing the Sky TV Studio all on his own. Probably. Definite info.
