Jack Clarke is class 09:52 - Oct 1 with 2469 views | RobTheMonk | I thought he was excellent on Sunday. His ball retention was very good and his movement allows Davis to get into good positions. Those two down the left really looked the business. The only downside being that he looked a little lightweight, but that was in a footrace against Konsa who is a bit of a genetic freak. Good assist for Delap who is another developing really well. We've really built a team that has some more gears to find which is very exciting to see. COYB.

All of that will improve raidly though I expect and the ceiling is high. ....imagine what he can do once he learns to head the ball.....
Jack Clarke is class on 10:18 - Oct 1 with 2286 views | Churchman | His appearance isn’t helped by borrowing Ebanks-Blake’s mighty shorts! He grew into the game and was, like Hutchinson, relentless. He rarely loses the ball and is going to be excellent for us. Smashing player. Delap? I thought he looked a donkey - against Fortuna. That lasted well. He is the real deal and at such a young age. He’s one big unit with a heck of a lot of ability. We’ve made some excellent signings. Not convinced by one or two, but it’s very early days. People settle into new surroundings at different rates. It’s all good.

There aren't many players who can move with the ball like he does. What I noticed from watching him at Sunderland as well is that he rarely makes the wrong decision. We saw that on Sunday. The pass to Delap when I think many people would've fancied a shot. The ball to Burns to create a good chance. He is a super talented player. He wont give us too much defensively, but if he can keep developing that relationship with Leif and Omari, we could be a scary attacking proposition.

Probably why when we see clarke we will see ogbene And if szmodics it'll be burns Wish I could find the picture but there was a positional one which showed greaves spent a large portion of the game covering lcb and lwb. Oshead moved across as did axel and ogbene became the fullback. That you can tell allowed clarke and davis to go forward.

Agree with that. If being hyper critical, I thought he perhaps didn’t track back or close down the opposition, including their keeper, quite enough. Szmodics has been excellent at that. However, with the ball he is superb. Gave us a real option and threat on the left, which is what Szmodics hasn’t always provided. He’s only going to get better and better as well, which is an exciting prospect.

Not sure about that. We could easily see Burns and Clarke together. That RW/RWB hybrid role is played similarly by Burns and Ogbene.

Don't think I've seen Burns drop as deep as Ogbene tbh. Not that he couldn't of course and you could well be right.

I think him and Delap must have accidentally swapped shorts in the dressing room - Liam looked like he’d borrowed his from the U10’s team.
Jack Clarke is class on 13:53 - Oct 1 with 1363 views | BlueBoots | You could see the preparation that went into targeting Villa defending with a high line, particularly down their right...got a lot of joy from quick balls out to either Davis or Clarke out on the left touchline, and then a first time pass played into the space behind for the other to run onto. When the quick passes aren't on, Clarke has looked the most patient of the players we've played in behind the 9 so far this season; in some of the earlier games, we've tried to create chances when there really wasn't a good opportunity to do that and ended up conceding possession too easily. Delap had a lot of work to do for the 2nd goal, but once that pass came down their left, he timed his run to beat their offside trap and their back 4 were running toward their own goal, they were in all sorts of trouble. If we find ourselves in a position where we're running out of time chasing a game, can see Hirst coming on to play centrally and Delap moving into one of the wide positions.
