Starting lineup changes - 1 tweak and 1 enforced (soon) 15:27 - Oct 1 with 1771 viewsRichardP08

Would it work having Clarke on the left, Szmodics in the middle and Hutchinson on the right? Or are we trying to keep Hutchinson in that central position?

And when Morsy picks up his 5th booking, which let's face it will be soon, who is the best partner for Phillips in the midfield 2? Luongo, Taylor or Cajuste?

I'm happy with the rest of the team, although there will be rotation to keep people fresh and to cater for injuries. Would we expect to see Johnson against his old team at the weekend?

I think KM will stick with Hutch at No10. He sees that as his position and will have the patience to make it work.

KM wont have a knee jerk reaction.

Burns and Ogbene are clearly his plan for the right.

Burns and Ogbene are good players but also system players. Omari couldn’t do the defensive side of that RW/RWB position as well as those 2.

A month ago the idea of Taylor being the replacement for Morsy was almost unthinkable, now it seems more likely with each game.

I have also thought about a trio of Clarke on the left, Szmodicz central and Hutchinson right. Specially when meeting low defences when there is less space down the flanks for Burns.

Agreed, Hutchinson played in the middle a lot as last season ended. Even when Burns was injured in the Spring he rarely played right midfield.

It will change at times but for specific reasons.

And, on the other part of the OP, Luongo probably starts when Morsy is out but might well be Cajuste.

I think Cajuste will start over Luongo. As much as I love what he's done for us, I can't see him having the intensity needed for 60/70 minutes at this level.

I've been thinking the same thing; I'd like to see Szmodics in the centre, and I think it is important that he start some games. Hutchinson will make a difference whereever he plays, and I think that he poses a bigger threat on the right than Ogbene. Then at 60 minutes bring on Broady and Hirst, Hutchinson to the middle (or Chappers), and Burns or Ogbene on the right.

As regards midfield, I love what Taylor has done in his cameo appearances - his pass to Hutchinson for the second goal on Sunday showed great awareness - and of course he can shoot from distance. So I think that he's earned a start, but I'd be happy with any of the three. Presumably in Morsy's absence, Phillips would take on a more defensive role.

I think that's the only time it works; if a team parks the bus against us. Maybe when Man City come here?

I'd like to see that behind Delap. Think it might happen at Wet Spam.

Would have thought Cajuste was brought in for exactly that senario. If he is not fit, I can see Phillips sitting deeper and Taylor starting.

With Broadhead back Szmodics is no longer only one of the 2 left sided options. Can see him either starting left or going in at 10 after 60 mins and Hutchison moving wide. Hutchison will start at 10 for the foreseeable.
