Private schools saying 1.7% drop in registrations is due to VAT 16:19 - Oct 4 with 3268 viewsElderGrizzly

When the birth rate has fell by more and they haven't taken that into account...

Yet the right-wing shills have been out in force this morning pushing the 'fake' story

Could they not pull themselves up by their bootstraps and look to do more with less?

Swap skiing holidays for a bit of youth hostelling. Plus those people were telling my kids to give up Sky, Netflix and Mango Frappuccinos to pay for stuff.

WTF are you talking about now. VAT hasn't yet been introduced, so I doubt it affects new born babies.

The independent schools council points to a 2018 report that suggest 10.7% of pupils are likely to be withdrawn from private schools. This figure could rise by another 6%

Truth is, no one really knows, but the likely outcome will be that it costs the government more money.

This is normal for the vindictive party. Tax the more wealthy, and the more wealthy say FU, and leave the country.

You never learn.

'since 2013'. Kids born in 2013 will now be 11.

If you'd had a decent state education you'd have been able to do this kind of basic maths.

According to the Education Policy Institute

"the pupil population in state primary and secondary schools in England is expected to fall by about 436,000 between 2022/23 and 2028/29. The Department for Education (DfE) projects that numbers will continue to fall by an additional 382,000 between 2028/29 and 2032/33."

The ISC. The bastion of independent analysis on this topic

It is of course the birth rate that applies now they were referring to, not those born now. But you knew that.

Your parents should probably claim a refund on your education, if the big words are too much for you.

I hope Labour are also going to do something about the other tax break they get from being ‘charities’. It’s ridiculous that state schools have to pay 100% of their tax assessment and yet most private schools get away with a 20% rate. If they want to be private, fine. But I don’t see why we should subsidise them.

So the government is vindictive if they make wealthier people pay more or remove the charity status many private/public schools enjoy.

What does that make Tory governments whose austerity policies disproportionately affected the least well off members of society?

Look, it's common knowledge that people that send their kids to private schools love their kids more than people who don't. None of these people have holidays or expensive cars, they put everything they have in to their beloved children. Plus they work harder than people who don't send their kids to private schools.

Why should they have to pay VAT on what is definitely a necessity? These people are true heroes. Their sacrifices ensure that the state schools that you and I send our unloved children to are not overcrowded or underfunded or have a shortage of teachers. We should be more grateful.
