Smoking in SBR Lower toilets 12:16 - Oct 7 with 5208 views | mickymills | Has anybody else noticed that this has gone from being a nuisance ie people queuing up to smoke in the cubicle; to being rife. At the Villa game, many fans simply stood in the middle of the mens toilet area openly smoking. I consider myself to be fairly tolerant of most things, but I don't want to breathe in others' smoke and the ceilings are very low in there. I've spoken to stewards, but they don't seem to be interested in what would obviously be a confrontation.

Their primary job is to deal with challenging behaviour and, as a result, risk ending up in confrontational situations. If they are too worried about confrontation to do their job, surely there's an argument that they're not cut out to be stewards? |
Agreed. At West Ham this weekend I watched some genuinely brilliant stewards dealing with people double standing in seating areas (presumably because they wanted to stand with mates but didn't have tickets together.). This resulted in a lot of inconvenience, specifically in my section for a man who had a ticket with his autistic son, who couldn't see any of the match, because people were standing together and spilling into the aisle. The stewards spend a good half an hour dealing with these idiots who were spoiling other people's experience, took a lot of abuse from drunken morons in the process, yet remained calm and firm and ultimately got the issue dealt with whilst avoiding any aggro. If you are well trained as a steward, you should be able to handle confrontation. If you can't, get another job. [Post edited 7 Oct 2024 19:31]

They won’t even let you smoke on the practice pitch. I gave up in January but I continue to be annoyed by the unfair treatment of smokers.

Yeah but that’s fair enough because it’s ‘on the premises’ plus would be fag burns everywhere
