It's shocking the amount of girls & women who have either felt men groping them, rubbing up against them, taking pictures on their phone and stuff. Its way more common than most people realise. Some absolute scum bags out there. |  | | |

I find it equally surprising and disgusting. I very rarely come across anything like this, but it's undoubtedly happening as proven from the reports to the police, so there does seem to be a lot of arseholes out there.
There's loads of middle aged blokes behaving like dicks in general at football matches too. My old man's generation weren't like that, so I don't know what's happened. Or maybe they were and I just didn't see them. Is it just a case of reporting bias nowadays with 24/7 news and social media? Fk knows. |  |

It's horrific. I hope she's got support around her and I hope they find those responsible.
So many levels of wrong in this. From the TfL staff member (I don't consider inexperience as an excuse in this situation - you know when something is wrong) to the reaction of those on the train.
Japan has female only carriages at peak times, you could argue this for match day travel times but it's so sad that it should even be considered. Would have to be heavily policed/managed as getting people to respect it would be the first issue. |  |

I think every woman I know has had some kind of sexual harrassment or assault happen to them during their lives, from comments, through groping and being flashed, up to full-blown rape. It's quite shocking how prevalent it is. |  |

Yeah, and I bet the majority never even get reported so we have no idea how common it is. Anecdotally though it’s absolutely staggering how many people I know who have had something similar. Remember a conversation with female colleagues in an office I was working in in London. I don't know which generation is your dad's but I hazard a guess it's the same as mine.
As a female going to football as a teenager and early 20s, it was horrendous.
It was just about all standing then and very packed. The ratio of males to females was a lot bigger than it is now too.
I was regularly groped by unknown hands and men taking the opportunity to 'accidently' press themselves against me in very dense , moving crowds either in the stands or arriving or leaving grounds. It was kind of expected and one of the hazards of going to football in those days. |  | | |

I was on that train and in that carriage, albeit about half a carriage away. The train was absolutely packed, so I didn't see anything, but I heard a female scream out, and then heard verbal abuse of her by perhaps 3 males. It was all over in a few mins, between White Hart Lane & Seven Sisters, (4 mins) and by the time I got off the train, all seemed calm. Sadly, I saw nothing that could help as evidence. But I am utterly convinced her version, per the original article, was true.
That is the second time I have witnessed abuse of a female on a train by football fans this season. Last was a ManU fan, middle-aged ringleader of a group of younger fans; the incident was verbal, but very unpleasant; the female moved away very quickly, BTP moved in within minutes and the guilty party was arrested. I haven't been asked to give a statement, so assume it got resolved... | | | |
