….although he did like the budgies.

Vivid memories of him bending iron bars round his neck from my childhood.

I remember when he visited Worlingham Middle School, circa 1983, wearing a stained tracksuit and a Tshirt with (I think) a Taddy’s Lager logo.

He was cool, in the playground messing about, then he tripped a kid in a japey way and the lad fell funny and knocked his front teeth out 😂. What a claim to fame, having your front teeth knocked out by the world’s strongest man.

He turned up at my school in Lowestoft around the same time. It was for some charity/sponsored event I think. He was hilarious, throwing (!!!) Kids around after we had our picture taken with him. Ah the good old days

Sad news. Remember getting my photo with him as a 7 year old at Seapets in Martlesham. Absolute giant. RIP.

Lovely guy. I was once on the wrong side of a swing door in an athletic stadium changing room when he came through it pissed at having blown a shot putt competition. I must have travelled six feet backwards through the air. He immediately apologised profusely, came down from his anger and bought me a pint in the bar. Great competitor.

Im sure he came to Whitton sports centre once earlyish maybe mid 80s for some sports event or to promote sports, as I recall a sudden craze of ripping telephone books in half at school

I did meet him a couple of times in Stowmarket in the 70s. He was happy to chat to anyone who stopped to talk with him. He was there (if I remember correctly) as he had been helping train or advise a young lad from Combs who won Suffolk strongest man contest - Robert or Roger Cobbold, sorry forget the lads name now
