Fantastic new Ashton/McKenna interview 20:25 - Oct 31 with 3621 viewsjasondozzell

What a great interview on TownTV.

Some bits that stood out:

- Big challenge over the summer and with the gigantic steps up in this league but the boys are working so hard and KMac sees so many positives. We are improving and that win is close.
- Ashton says unnamed Chairman of another PL club has been really supportive texted him immediately after final whistle at Brentford and said 'if we keep playing like that, with our manager setting us up that way, we will be fine.' Wonder who it is?
- McKenna not a fan of VAR. No surprise - anyone who loves the game hates it!
- Ashton fuming over some of the VAR decisions we've had. - says his number is going to be flashing up on Howard Webb's phone to have words with him.
- We've outrun the opposition in every game so far.
- Support at Brentford was 'outstanding'. KMac said his brother was there and thought it might even have been the best atmosphere home or away of them all since KM started.
- If we all stick together we will be okay.

We are so lucky to have those two leading this club.

Wow this was great!

McKenna keeps getting better and better. He speaks with so much sense and is so genuine, seems really invested in us now and for the future. Love him even more.

As I've said before he says so much very intelligently without giving much away at all..... which in my opinion is how it should be.

Particularly liked McKenna's bit about avoiding criticism of Refs after matches. Determined not to make excuses on that front.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

That is key but it was different to all previous games.

Hirst Is vastly different. Szmodics Is to clarke. Cajuste and Phillips is different to P&M. Etc

What he selects going forward will be interesting to see.

I do like how he doesn't get drawn in to much about refs. It's easy to lose your mind with it all.

Ashton talking about the training ground. Wonder if the plans are going to be different to the ones shared back in March time.

Ashton voted for VAR when he had the chance to do something about it.

Webb wont be bothered by Ashton.

To be fair to him, he had not really had any experience of it at that stage.

And, It had been assured that the mistakes/decision anomalies surrounding VAR would be reduced. I don't know how they plan to do that, and there is no sign it has improved at all.

We've all see it for years, I don't buy that excuse.

He didn't want to rock the boat, I get that.

Seen it through now. It’s well worth a watch. Holland interviewed them well too.

I got a real sense of what they are trying to do and the sheer scale of it in a way that doesn’t always come across in the written word.

Both were anxious to context where we are from where we’ve come from in such a short time not as an excuse, but to highlight the challenges that represents on and off the field.

The only bit I thought was a bit of a waste of time was the piece on VAR. it’s not going away, sadly. Especially while it benefits the top clubs. Ashton can phone up whoever he likes - the fodder in the PL has no voice.

They seem confident results will come and of course that’s what we all want. However, if it proves too much and we have to take a step back (relegation) to move forwards again, so be it.

I get the impression that move forward we will one way or another.

Things like this and remembering the Paul Hirst days certainly make me remain positive.... haha

The only point there I think is irrelevant is the "We've outrun the opposition in every game so far." That isn't necessarily a good thing.

I think most clubs would love to get rid of it. But they dint want to be one that votes against it and be a target.
