I wonder if it's to help newer players familiarise themselves with the ground and older faces to re-familiarise themselves following changes and improvements.
During the covid seasons it was mentioned that one of the reasons games went ahead in empty grounds rather than on training pitches etc, was that players knew where they were on the pitch using certain features of the grounds as way points. |  | | |

I might be miles off, but maybe so the newer players get used to certain positions and where to be etc?
Chaplin etc could probably have a glance to the left and be familiar with their exact positions. |  |

Not really any different to training on a training pitch that one.
We have trained on the main pitch before under KM.
The biggest difference will be speed of the ball on that pitch compared to others. You'll never replicate a pitch so it would be good to appreciate the move of the ball on the home pitch. |  |

Not really any different to training on a training pitch that one.
We have trained on the main pitch before under KM.
The biggest difference will be speed of the ball on that pitch compared to others. You'll never replicate a pitch so it would be good to appreciate the move of the ball on the home pitch. |
There will be off pitch points of reference in the stadium that dont exist on the training ground. |  |
