On a similar subject Phil. The next time you are at the club for a presser, can you prompt Marcus Nash or Andy/Jacob to get the club going on BlueSky?

I think I saw someone on Twitter say there is an account. I assume if it becomes a go-to place for enough people they will use it as they do other platforms already.

They have an account, as do the ITFC foodbank guys.

I haven't deleted my twitter feed but am hoping to use bluesky from now on. Far too many toxic pricks on there.

Just unfollow/block them?

Or, wild idea, just ignore them?

Twitter used to run an algorithm that put tweets that people you had chosen to follow into your feed.

Under Musk, X has changed that algorithm to often push the most extreme and provocative posts into your feed. Which then creates a cycle of people being inflamed and responding, which keeps those threads at the top of the algorithm.

So your feed is full of hate and bile, and you can't find content easily from people who you want to read.

Worse than that, Twitter used to ensure that people you blocked couldn't engage with your tweets. Musk has got rid of that rudimentary layer of protection.

I suspect you knew all that, though.

They removed the block function, didn't they?

Besides, I stuck around for long enough on X because I'd built up such a good group of people to follow and I didn't want to start again. But the last few months, literally all I see on there is race-baiters, right wing edgelords and dimwits arguing why Tommy Robinson, Trump, Farage and Musk are the saviours of mankind.

It's not even that I'm offended by it all or that it upsets me. It's just... boring. Reminds me of when I used to work in Wetherspoons and there was always a drunk at the end of the bar who wanted to talk at you for hours on end and you couldn't get away.

Dunno why it's so controversial that people are taking the chance to step away and go somewhere else.
