Upgrading a ticket 22:33 - Nov 27 with 2604 views | theinbetweener | My Dad’s giving me his season ticket for a couple of games in December. He’s got a concession ticket (over 65). Does anyone know how much it costs to upgrade to a standard adult ticket? Presumably you can do it on match day at the ticket office? Thanks in advance TWTD’ers.

Upgrading a ticket on 08:50 - Nov 28 with 2145 views | soupytwist | I upgraded my son's U23 Upper SAR ticket for the Leicester game to a regular adult one at the ticket office pre-game. Queues were OK. I think it was about £15.00 I've often been tempted to just try it at the turnstile but never had the nerve.

So it flashes to the operator summat like "Check concession" when a concession ticket is used. Whether they do is another matter, but they can tell what ticket you are using. [Post edited 28 Nov 2024 9:08]

Naughty, but if the ticket scanners do not realise the user is not over 65 then the club needs to sort that out.

Paying minimum wage - sitting in the cold - long queue building up - suspect more than a few shrug their shoulders tbh

My mate used to use a ticket from someone who was over 65 and he did get refused entry once and had to upgrade it. Previous occasions he got through without question.

Not sure how that happens with the SAR stand turnstiles - you just scan the barcode on the back of the ticket card and in you go. It's more likely that it doesn't recognise the barcode on someone's phone and then an attendant has to tell the person to make sure the brightness is turned up on the phone. Or someone's folded their printed ticket along the barcode and the scanner doesn't like it. On the other hand I'd be surprised if the club had installed turnstiles that basically rely on people's honesty to enforce concession pricing entry. If a supermarket self service till with a camera on can't tell if I (mid fifties man with appropriate amount of grey hair and wrinkles) am over 18 or not, I don't know how the turnstiles can work out if the person scanning is entitled to their concession or not.

I think it costs a few quid, not much. One thing to remember though is that once it's upgraded, they'll email your dad with a new ticket for the game, and his season ticket won't work.

What if they are 63 and look over 65?

He’d get complimentary tickets surely, he wouldn’t need to get a ST and queue up with us scumbags

Think about it. The loss of a few gaming the system is compensated by not having to pay the wages of a human being to stand there manning each turnstile. For the supermarket on the other hand, it would be illegal to turn a blind eye in their case.

If you take the ST card into the ticket office they issue a physical ticket on the upgrade.
